Well you're pretty much screwed in this match up if the Diddy knows what he's doing.

Nanners completely ruin olimars ground game, and that's where Olimar has the advantage.
I suggest just camp, shield grab, and space like crazy.

WRONG! Olimar is a ****ing hard matchup and one that I don't feel like facing in a tourney. Camp him, fsmash whenever a banana is going to be thrown and then grab when he approaches. You win! Just don't get thrown offstage. It helps to keep playing him and get a sense of handling the bananas, olimar sucks at it but experience will always help against diddy. Grab ALOT, be aggressive with grabbing as it can really screw up diddy's momentum.

It's not that simple. You act like f-smash will prevent you from being touched by a banana, but they are usually thrown while oli is in some kind of ending lag or something, so that doesn't really work. Grabbing doesn't work too well, because even if you land the grab, there's a chance that you will slip. Furthermore, if diddy throws while oli grabs, his grab will be interupted by being hit (no grab armor) and he'll trip. Don't get thrown off stage? That's like saying never trip from the bananas, which is bound to happen with any decent diddy.
Experience definitely helps against diddy, but it is by no means easy from there. As posted above, the bananas still wreck oli's ground game, and I think diddy beats oli in the air.

I heard its basically camp, then grab the banana (with the dash attack thats almost exactly like Diddy's), then realize that Olimar is better suited for bananas, but just for mindgames, just run and pikmin toss and watch Diddy try to catch yellow pikmin.

Then, when he starts approaching, chuck the banana and go off onto your standard Olimar combo.

I've got a secondary for this matchup. Its not an easy one for Diddy. Pikmin tossing successfully means the Diddy is going to have to approach. If he has a naner in his hand and it's thrown, shield it and grab. Grab, grab,grab, spam pikmin. Olimar kills Diddy early too.
