Anyone play Viva Pinata?

I bought it today for 20 bucks and it's pretty cool. I thought it was going to be a baby game or whatever but it's actually not bad. It's like Animal Crossing mixed with Roller Coaster Tycoon, except with farm pinatas. Also, the game is very bright in colorful. The first time I popped it in, my room was all dark and... yeah, you get the picture.

So, does anyone else play?

Viva Pinata is amazing. Back in 2006, it was released about the same time as Gears of War. While all my buddies were playing Gears... I was on Viva Pinata. I was made fun of so much for it, but hey, the game rocks. I recently sold my copy in preparation for the sequel, Trouble in Paradise, which comes out September 2nd. AND it's only going to cost $40. Major good deal there. Four player co-op over Live, too.

Yeah, I recommend it to anyone. Find it used if you have to. I feel super rewarded too, it was an impulse buy.

Definitely, 60 bucks is too much for games anyway; I'll pick up that new version as well. Co-op should be interesting.

I wish I could believe this to be true, but as much as I want to try it out, a part of me says "I hate these"kiddie" looking games" and I sadly I'm gonna have to pass up on this

You're missing out. It's a genuinely awesome game. Much harder than you'd anticipate from the box art, it gets pretty deep.

about sums it up for me.

I stand by my opinion that Rare hasn't made a truly amazing game for the Xbox or 360, although Viva Pinata's concept is very cool and deserves recognition and stands out above the rest of Rare's current output, although I really didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. You payed $20 for it, I payed $50, so I say your purchase, and over all experience, was better than mine.

I played at my friends house and went on a killing spree. I blew open almost all of his piñatas and saved it. It was fun. At the time that's what I thought was the point. I love a game that teach children to decapitate defenseless creature for their sweet, sweet innards.

P.S: He wasn't mad though...XD

It's weird though, you're raising them to get popped open anyway, I think. Something in the intro movie talked about becoming the best pinata ever.

You raise them to be the best they can be and then send them off to a Pinata competition. Which means a birthday party for some little kid who bashes them open. Though somehow, they return to your garden after the event.

From the Wikipedia entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viva_Piñata:_Pocket_Paradise

Other than control changes, there are also a handful of design changes that are unique to this version of the game. First off, it is no longer possible to buy fertiliser or romance sweets[4]. Fertiliser (which is now accessed via the main tools pallet) is only produced when a Taffly is made to interact with a piece of fruit - the colour of the fruit dictates the colour of the fertiliser. Romance sweets are now earned by completing Viva Piñata Central challenges, putting much more emphasis on what was originally a purely optional aspect of the game. Another major difference between the DS version and the original is the addition of an overhead map [5] that enables the player to view the whereabouts of their Piñata instantly.

A new game mode has also been added that mirrors the “Just for fun”[6] mode in Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise, called “Playground”[7]. This is a no pressure version of the main game (set on a beach) where young or inexperienced players can experiment without having to deal with the challenging aspects of the game, such as Dastardos or Ruffians. It has also been announced that there will be seven new types of piñata[8].

Rare explains on their website that "you'll also be given free reign with an expanded selection of tools and tool actions, upgraded forms of the Journal and Encyclopedia... and Episodes (tying in more closely to the TV series and allowing fans of the show to spend quality time with familiar faces)." They also state that “DS wireless connectivity... lets you send prime Piñata specimens to your friends, making the act of parading your Doenut around in a humiliating pirate outfit easier than ever."[9]

Pocket Paradise and Trouble in Paradise came out today (or yesterday?). Anyone pick any of them up?
I got Pocket Paradise. It's pretty cool, haven't done much yet.
Like mentioned above, there are some changes, I've notice you can't talk to Seedos as much for seeds. And your pinatas die for real.
