I've searched the internet and there seems to be several rampant unconfirmed rumors that Nintendo has announced the VC for the DS in Japan.

I am very excited with this fact as I really didn't get a chance to play many of the GB, GBC, and GBA titles as I would have liked to.

A couple articles said that the service would be "region locked" though, can someone explain what this means as it's rather confusing to me. SD compatibility to add more room has been discussed as well although i'm not sure if that's just speculation or actual fact.

Anyways I would be really excited for this and more than willing to spend a ton of money on all the great titles that I missed out on. Some titles I would really want to see:

Super Mario Advance Games (ports of the NES and SNES classics)
WarioLand
Donkey Kong
Metroid Fusion
Metroid Zero Mission
Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow
Zelda Oracle of Seasons/Oracle of Ages
Zelda: the Minish Cap
Zelda: Four Swords Adventures
Golden Sun 1&2
Mario Golf
Mario Tennis
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
Wario Ware Twisted

Thoughts?

Awesome. Now all they have to do is make it so that it isn't loaded down with a billion extra features that you won't use, add a GBA slot and make it so that the sholder buttons don't die via regular use and I might actually go out and purchase another DSi.

VC= no need for a GBA slot.

I still have my SP anyways so if I really wanted to go back and get all those games I guess I could but Vitual Console would make it so much easier.

I like my DSi lol never got a DSphat so I don't see much wrong with it.

"Region locked" means that games from one region aren't available in another. I guess that means that Japan-only titles still won't make it to Europe, the USA, and the like.

SD compatibility to add more room has been discussed as well although i'm not sure if that's just speculation or actual fact.
The DSi is already SD compatible...?

Zelda: Four Swords Adventures
That was a GameCube title. Maybe you're thinking of A Link to the Past/Four Swords?

Thoughts?
It doesn't really concern me, considering that...

A) I just bought a DS Lite as a replacement for my Phat, since it's held up for quite some time now, and will not be buying a DSi anytime soon (I can't afford to spend $140 and then $170 a short time later for essentially the same thing, not to mention I have many problems with the DSi)

B) I don't buy Virtual Console games on the Wii and wouldn't buy them on DSi, since I like to own the original game

But overall, even excluding those two things and assuming I have a DSi and don't care about owning the original, it doesn't excite me that much. I suppose it's nice for people who never got a chance to play some of the older games, but especially if they include GBA games, it's...kind of a ripoff. Because then they will essentially have taken out GBA compatibility for a camera and music player, then said "Not to fear, you can rebuy the games you already own and be able to play them on the DSi! =D" I'd just assume have a GBA slot rather than rebuying games I already own.

Now, if they moved the titles already out for VC on Wii to the DSi, I would reconsider, seeing as there's something to be said for having portable console games. I would gladly pay for Super Metroid a third time (VC for Wii, original cartridge, and this would be the third) if it meant I could play it anywhere; though a SNES portable would be preferable to that.

VC= no need for a GBA slot.
Except for the fact that you'd need to re-purchase games you already own, which is silly.

All good points and I can see why you wouldn't want to repurchase the same games. In my case, I really didn't have money to spend on a lot of games when I was in the 8-15 year old range and I would buy games based off of name recognition alone, now that i'm older and peruse a lot of gaming websites I see a bunch of titles that are considered "classics" that I never would have touched as a kid.

Oh and yes I did mean A Link to the Past:)

Oh and SD compatible in the sense that you can save your downloads from the Shop channel directly onto your SD card instead of taking up internal memory space.
