Vertex hacks fail

I tried to make vertex hacks like the guy in this tutorial here:

i did it 3-4 times, also with different characters, but it looks always like this picture:

i changed just a couple of vertex points in blender
what´s my failure?

what you are doing in blender will not work use 3d max 2010 it will work in their

DON'T USE Anim8or, skip it in your process, that's the problem, I had the same problem before and once I stopped using Anim8or everything worked fine

when i import the 3ds file nothing happens in blender

Then I have no idea, I don't use blender so I don't know how it works, try finding a way to make the vertex points show up
