Version Exclusives of... ANYTHING?

Because, honestly, I WANT Version Exclusives.

There are version exclusive stages. But what else could that be? I think it would give both versions their own identities.

Besides, it wouldn't make sense for the Wii Fit Trainer to be on the 3DS Version(if she was), nor it would make sense for Issac or Starfy to be on the Wii U Version.

Are you getting me?

I was against version exclusive characters from the very beginning. I once again thank Sakurai for keeping no version exclusive characters. :bee:

It wouldn't really be fair to have different characters on each platform, he wouldn't want people to be limited to which platform they play on just because their favourite character will be on it. To be honest I agree with having the same characters too, I will be playing the Wii U version only and would feel quite annoyed if I don't get to play as characters such as Issac. There may be other differences but the roster must stay the same.

Before any actual info was released, I started thinking version exclusive characters were going to happen. I'm glad they didn't though. Same roster on both versions will be pretty sweet.

I imagine it'd be very time consuming to make two very different games with two different rosters. So I'm glad he just has decided same roster and other things being the exclusives.

Character exclusives is the last thing I want. Stage exclusives is bad enough.

Pikachu doesn't make sense in the console version too, because most Pokémon games are handhelds. Neither does Mr. Game & Watch. Also the Ice Climbers shouldn't appear on the 3DS version, that's crazy! I mean their game was console-only, they wouldn't make sense on a handheld game!

One possibility I suppose could be version exclusive outfits. Like Wario could be classic Wario on the 3DS and Warioware Wario on the Wii U, or Pikachu could have different hats on each version or something-no change in play, just visual differences. I'd personally be against the idea because I'd rather just have all outfits in both versions, but it would be a way to give a little more of an exclusive feel without cheating anyone out of anything major.

Also if masterpieces return in any way shape or form I imagine they'd be exclusive; portable games for the 3DS, console games for the Wii U.

Version exclusive trophies could also happen. Maybe both games will have different event matches, maybe a different set of break the targets if they go the Brawl rout(otherwise that would be a ridiculous amount of target stages to design). There's lots of possibilitys.

Well, there was no portable Smash then! And though No. 25 did have major appearances on the consoles, Mr. Game & Watch never did. I wouldn't mind having him as a handheld exclusive.

If both versions have to be exactly the same 90%, then what would be the point of buying the 3DS version? everyone is going to go for the more powerful Wii U Version instead!

The only aspect of the game that has been confirmed to be the same on both versions is the roster, that's not even the 50% of the game. We don't even know what will be exclusive and what won't so please stop acting as if having the same characters on both versions means we are getting two equal games.

I personally think the 3DS version should have been a downsized port of the Wii U version, instead of the other way around..
There's no real practical reason that ALL characters are needed on the handheld version, and I kinda believe that Nintendo needs a really good reason that people should purchase a Wii U...

If it's roughly the same game (albeit with some different stages), why would somebody who owns a 3DS purchase a Wii U? I always viewed Mario Kart and Smash Bros as real "system sellers", so I don't agree overall with that as a business decision.

But hey, it'll be a fun game, and that decision won't directly impact me, so I'll be happy either way.

It's like people forget that Sakurai has said that the 3DS is suppose to be a more single player exprience of the game to customixe the characters and then send them to the Wii-U version. Thats the main reason for them having the same roster. Besides the 3DS will not be keeping the roster size down of the Wii-U version at all, people really need to figure this out. A 3DS card can hold up to 8 GBs and games like SSF4 had 40+ characters and only used like 2.something of the 3DS GBs. Heck Brawl had 7.something GB and all of that can fit into the 3DS, but the only reason brawl was so big was due to SSE (Whcih will not be returning) and poor compression. the problem with the 3DS are characters like the ICs, but they have more then enough time to get that figured out. So again, the 3DS will not be bringing the roster size of Wii-U version down and the whole reason of them having the same rosters is because the 3DS is meant to be used to customize the characters to some extent and then transfer them to the Wii-U version. Why do the same old problems that aren't even problems keep getting brought up. ._____.

Version exclusivty just rules out the 3DS version being any good for practice. I wanted the games to be 1:1 as far as gameplay is concerned.

Not sure if this is a comment towards my post, because I didn't see anybody else complaining about the 3ds version holding back the wii u version or anything.

Just to be clear, I'm in no way making that comment, as I think I'd be happy with the game having another 35 char roster, and expect a bit larger than that.
I just think the wii u version better have some large differences/improvements from the 3ds version, other than good graphics, to make it worth the purchase. Otherwise, I think nintendo is really shooting themselves in the foot. I will personally buy the wii u version either way, but they need to do something to separate the wii u version from the 3ds version. Otherwise, I expect many casuals to just go with the cheaper option, which benefits the financially strong 3ds, as opposed to the struggling wii u.

I don't know enough to guess how they're going to handle this, and like I said, I'll probably be happy either way, but knowing how much content sakurai loves to cram into games, I kind of expect the wii u version to be LOADED in some way.

The biggest differences are this, the Wii-U version is going to be focused more on multiplay while the 3DS version is more focused on Single player. This is due to how the connectivity is suppose to work. the 3DS you go on this adventure (Not SSE) and are somewho able to cutomize your character to some kind of an extent and then transfer them to the Wii-U. What this customazation is is still rather unknown as Sakurai was rather vauge on it.
