So, I saw it in the wiishop channel a couple days ago and I have a couple questions about it and if anyone who owns it could clear things up that would be sweet xP

What controllers are compatible with this ver?

Is it still the same game as the 64 ver or did they patch some things?

It should be exactly the same game but I heard somewhere that the color of some platform in luigi's board the platforms got changed for no reason. Gamecube and classic controller are compatible and gamecube controls are exactly the same as melee ones, except c-stick jumps instead of smash. Dunno about classic controller layout.

Is playing ssb64 on VC as smooth as playing on n64, or is it like playing on a emulator?

It's so bad playing SSB64 with any controller that isn't a 64 controller. You still grab with R and Z canceling is just as confusing. AND the C stick threw me off when I wanted me smashes.

Sounds pretty terrible then, lol. Well thanks for your opinion and quick responses guys. I do prefer a gc remote over a retro controller any day and I most likely use upsmash with the cstick lol. At most I'd probably buy it for fun. Maybe they'll invent a 64 > GC converter but that's more likely not to happen.

One plus side of the VC version is that I sensed little lag (like how those older games have that random lag when too many things happen at once). If there is a GC->N64 adaptor port I'd buy the VC version. Til then I'm stickin to my good ol' trusty N64.

Since when is lag in smash a good thing? I'd hate to miss a link because of a spike.

Ummm... Pretty sure there IS a gamecube-N64 adapter or whatever you call it. Just from reading the 29871538209 other threads on the topic, I know a considerable amount. The R and L will be switched, but that's the extent of prob's with it, as far as my not inconsiderable forum-accrued stash of SSB64 VC knowledge goes.

you can't invent something that already exists

In my opinion, once you can get used to the controls, the VC version plays the same as the 64 version, although with said differences.

Yes, the controls are funky at first, but I got used to it in about 5 minutes, and I can play just as well as I can on the 64.
