UVA/Charlottesville Smash

First-year at UVA looking to lose and learn. I'm going to Omegacon and probably East Coast Elites, but once a month isn't enough. Didn't want to necro the other thread.

Any takers?

I'm here too. I play against rarely_upset. I'm cool.

It's kinda miraculous how quickly I found rarely_upset, given that I'm super not social, but I still managed to stumble backwards into one of the seemingly very few actually competitive smashers into the area. Within the first week of being here. Magic. Wizardry.Or great luck, at least.

I wonder if there are many other good Smashers at UVA, past first year, who just gave up on Smash and stopped checking Smashboards after not finding any local Smashers... I should buy a ton of chalk and make the most ostentatious and impossible to ignore ad ever, for Smashing.

Hey guys, check out Sypher's Melee tournaments and Xanadu. I generally coordinate ECE to make sure we don't overlap, so if you are willing to travel through VA, you can get good practice very consistently ^_^.

There's a Facebook group for Charlottesville smashfests, but it doesn't seem to be used very often. Maybe you guys can change that?

R_U and I are entering doubles but it's certainly not improbable that we won't, uh, succeed. At all. In anything. Although we'll certainly try our hardest and do our bestest. Probably plenty of time for just playing on Friday.

Would you ever be able to make the hour trip over for a bunch of smashing? Maybe, like, a Smash Day if we ever actually have an entire day of free time for any reason at all ever.

Yo, so I just started my first year of law school and Washington & Lee here in Lexington.

This is my first time living in VA so I don't know the state layout all that great but I'm pretty sure Charlottesville is only about an hour away from Lexington right?

I'm definitely lookin to get some melee/PM on in the near future if you guys play regularly, so let me know whats good

Yeah, there are quite a few guys who play on almost a daily basis in Charlottesville. Look up the MD/VA Melee group on Facebook. That's one of the best ways to make your presence known.
