It may be different but you can still play brawl on the classic controller/gamecube layout. (it's not completely pointless to play it a bit)

the people that say this is pointless are pretty much saying that a melee and or ssb64 verteran will have no advantages what so ever over someone who has never played melee or ssb64 or havnt played it much...lol i think that is sooo complete and utter crap! of course a hardcore player of melee and or ssb64 would have several advantages when starting brawl! these games are not that much different to where training on a previous wouldnt matter at all! who would u bet your money on if on day one a ssb64/melee vet vs someone who hasnt played the previous serious or hasnt played them much???

As far as control wise, if your using the gamecube layout you have a definite advantage.

If not so, then your going to have a ton of experience in different stratics and chaining combos with characters, so in my opinion, if you have played it of course you'll have the edge in combat.

From the reviews and hands on whatever, it sounds like its good to have Melee fresh in your mind, while its true that Brawl is different, it would seem that Melee experience helps a bit

Also, I will TOTALLY look up spoilers after the Japan release, Im just that kind of person...Ill regret t later of course

I was thinking of training by using melee for brawl but its kinda pointless because brawl is a different game.

It really all depends, for example when I see a new challenger im not going to try out the new controller layout. Going to switch over to gamecube to be sure I get him real good.

Trying to learn how to use motion sensing controller in brawl going to take some time though.

Well training specifically for Brawl is indeed pointless

The advantage one carries over games is mental... not technical

Actually you can turn youself around with b moves...just not the neutral B move
How do you do that? I've always tried to turn around with a neutral B, but I end up doing a Forward B in the direction I'm trying to face.

...I'll try to figure it out the next time i play.
