I'll buy the game. I'll play the game. But I will always think about what it could have been, what they could have added, what they could have changed...
I feel the exact same way.
If I could have known what it could be right now, compared to decloning a few and adding a few new characters and stages with a delay until next december, I would take the delay. Right now, the most dissappointing part of the game is looking to be the roster.
I'm still gonna buy it on launch day and play it a lot, probably not as much as I would have if the roster was 40-45. But it really seems like he crapped out on the roster. I wasn't expecting any clones, but when I found out there were clones (Ness' early leak), I looked forward to him because I was pretty sure he would have a seperate Final Smash that would set him apart.
But now, nope, clones are full clones, no seperate FS's. The only incentive I'd really have to play the clones more than once or twice to try them out was the hope they'd have seperate FS's.
So after buying into the hype, a lot of which came from Sakurai, Nintendo, and Famitsu, I was expecting the 40-50 characters that were speculated by Sakurai in the early stages of development. And with all the talk about more characters than I can believe or imagine, I was dead certain they'd not only reached the 40 characters Sakurai hoped for, but exceeded it.
But I'm still expecting this to be a great game, just not as good as it could have been, mostly due to the underwhelming roster. But then again, there's always Smash Bros 4.
