But now, many feel as though they have been ROBbed.

But anyways, all puns aside, people need to cheer up a bit. In a little over a month, we'll all be so busy playing this enormous and wonderful game that we won't have time for crying over lost potential.

I'll buy the game. I'll play the game. But I will always think about what it could have been, what they could have added, what they could have changed...

I'm glad we have dedede. Meta, Diddy, Olimar and many others

But the game reeks of wasted oppurtunities.

Ganandorf still a clone?! What a kick in the teeth.

Honestly, I'm still riding high on Ness being included. Today's update was godly imo and almost brought me to tears. Ness is now an official fixture of the Smash series and has been enshrined as THE primary Mother representative. Seriously, having Ness is all I ever cared about. They could have replaced Mario with Richard Simmons and I wouldn't have cared as long as Ness got in.

Ugh, ungreatful little...

Think of the bigger kick in the teeth it would have been for Ganondorf mains. They had a bad feeling that his moveset would change, but to their avail, it didn't. I think you'll live, too.

And I can understand the what it could have been arguement, but it's really weak. Seriously. Be greatful there is even a third Super Smash. Maybe when you grow up, and maybe work for Nintendo, you can help make the next Super Smash what it could have been for whatever reason.

Characters make this game, but this roster is not even terrible. Or bad. It's pretty **** solid, comparing it to other fighting games. And they actually fixed problems, rather then pull a Street Fighter and leave them open for five games running.

The only problem, and it's a minor one, is the cloning of several characters. I'd come to like R.O.B. since he's pretty unique and fits in well. Wolf seems to Fox-ish but I'm convinced he will move and strike differently. And some of the rehashing of final smashes just don't work, but I think I can go around that idea and play as if I never knew.

Well, true with the clones, a little irritating perhaps, but by NO MEANS game ruining. Actually, I the only thing I don't like about the clones is the copied FS moves. Now, come on, nobody can deny that's just lazy.

some people had some ridiculous requests for included charactersI think the roster makes sense, people need to grow up and look at it from sakurais point of view

I wanted mach rider, but he's WAY too old school and the game never really had any sort of cult following.... plus, f-zero replaced the franchise so there goes that possibility

I wanted black shadow, because I was hoping that SOMEONE would take over ganondorfs moves since he'd be a sword wielder, but hes a luigified clone and it looks good

I wanted the black knight, and I've yet to come up with a reason not to have included him, but when I do, you'll know.

oh, and I also wanted Ryu from street fighter but you know.... conflict of interests etc...

most of te requests people had sucked lets be honest with ourselves....

I myself have made peace with the Brawl roster. In fact, I'm even looking forward to two of my most previously hated inclusions, Wolf and ROB. However, arguements FOR Ganondorfs cloning make no sense.

All of us will have to re-learn every character. That's just how it is. Ganondorfs remaining cloned demonstrates a terminal lack of creativity. Having the same (similar) specials as Falcon makes little sense. As an added smack to fans of the Dorfs originality, one of his taunts appears to be him pulling out his white sword.

So what Im saying is, Ganondorf mains will have to relearn him, and he has a few different moves anyway. What harm would have been done if they had remade all of his moves?

Quoted for truth. I think perhaps there were only five reasonable character requests left who weren't included (whom I will not name, as I don't wish to start a huge flamewar).

Really, I'm very pleased. I like every single character included on this roster, as opposed to Melee where I didn't know quite a few of them (FE characters, Game and Watch). On top of that, every character looks genuinely fun to play as, and much more balanced. I applaud Sakurai for the work he put into Brawl's roster.

i hear tons of people complaining and acting as though they would rather see a roster containing a tree and a chocolate bar with an unlockable bucket, than have this perfectly good roster with 35 characters. thats more than enough. it could have 30 and thats still several more than its predecessor.
and ROB, fair enough he doesnt look that great, but i think he will be quite a laugh myself.
i am excited about this roster.

I feel the exact same way.

If I could have known what it could be right now, compared to decloning a few and adding a few new characters and stages with a delay until next december, I would take the delay. Right now, the most dissappointing part of the game is looking to be the roster.

I'm still gonna buy it on launch day and play it a lot, probably not as much as I would have if the roster was 40-45. But it really seems like he crapped out on the roster. I wasn't expecting any clones, but when I found out there were clones (Ness' early leak), I looked forward to him because I was pretty sure he would have a seperate Final Smash that would set him apart.

But now, nope, clones are full clones, no seperate FS's. The only incentive I'd really have to play the clones more than once or twice to try them out was the hope they'd have seperate FS's.

So after buying into the hype, a lot of which came from Sakurai, Nintendo, and Famitsu, I was expecting the 40-50 characters that were speculated by Sakurai in the early stages of development. And with all the talk about more characters than I can believe or imagine, I was dead certain they'd not only reached the 40 characters Sakurai hoped for, but exceeded it.

But I'm still expecting this to be a great game, just not as good as it could have been, mostly due to the underwhelming roster. But then again, there's always Smash Bros 4.

Give Ganondorf's old moveset to someone else then. No one gets kicked in the teeth.

Zelda fans > Ganondorf mains
(and even some Ganondorf mains realized this, some where even willing to get his set changed, so you're talking about a fraction of a fraction)

Ganondorf has been around since the NES. He's the main villain for one of Nintendo's main series, he deserves much more than that.

And seriously, taking his sword out for a taunt? Double kick in the teeth to Zelda fans.

Maybe if the Dojo never was released and GAVE YOU A TASTE OF THE ROSTER and the game, maybe you would be greatful

If Dojo never showed you NEW COMERS like DeDeDe, Sonic, Pokemon Trainer, movies of SE, had shown some newer items and Assist Trophy's maybe all of you Ungrateful B@stards out there would be happy about the Roster... and maybe if they didn't release a DEMO to be played like they didn't do with Melee, maybe you would've been happy when the FULL 35 Char Roster was released and excited about all of those NEWCOMERS

Seriously take a step back and be grateful for what we were able to know just from the Dojo, which i bet when NEWCOMERS were announced on there, you were excited to play as them

I Bet when Screen Shots of Lucario when the game was released, you wanted to play as him

All of you ppl who complain about the game are just spoiled, cuz you all went to Dojo every morning when it was updated and possibly didn't go to sleep until you saw the new update, you all put the game on a pedestal, and now that it doesn't live up to YOUR standards, you think you have the right to complain cuz you knew some of the things that were added in Brawl prior to BRAWL RELEASING......... i mean it hasn't even released in North America yet and you complain about something you haven't even played yet

Well, you forget the Dojo also spaced out the whining. If the Dojo had never been released, we'd have people whining about Goroh, Lyn, Deoxys, even Saki and Stafy...

And Ganondorf would still be a clone.

I was dissapointed at first, but I just know there will be super smash bros 4 and it will have everything we ever dreamed of being in a smash game! ;)

There's no real need to get depressed, there are plenty of extra games coming out aswell that can cheer you up. While waiting for brawl I almost completly forgot there was any other good games coming out :p

Yeah, dude have fun waiting the next seven years for Smash 4. People can't even enjoy what we have right now. I don't usually play the get a life card but if you are anticipating a game that's not even announced and will likely come out in seven plus years you need something more going for you. There's a decent chance you could be dead then, in seven years about 5% of this board will be dead, most of them moved on to other things. Hell if smash 4 comes out theres a decent chance ill buy it but who the hell is honestly *waiting for it*. No wonder you were dissappointed.

Aren't jokes supposed to have a funny part, you know so people laugh? Or is ******** synonymous with funny on these boards like gamefaqs?
Ah, Digital your words wound me deeply. No, really they do. The fact that some random guy on an internet board doesn't appreciate my sense of humor has really put me into a state of self-loathing and despair. :crying:

It's not really meant to hurt you, only to demonstrate that this topic is the stereotypical spam that we put up with here, but wouldn't have to if the mods did there jobs. No hard feelings bro.

I was raging for the first two days after hearing about the roster, but I've gotten over it. Brawl looks fantastic, even if all of our beloveds did not make the cut....
I'll be keeping my sig as "ISAAAAAAC", though, because I don't think I'll ever understand why he was demoted to Assist Trophy status.
