Up Tilt is a very interesting move. It doesn't only have amazing shield damage and damage in general, plus good range, but it also has that suck-in effect where he drags characters or objects in front of him towards him. What I was wondering about is, have any of you found any neat uses for this?

I thought about making this thread after a FG match against Ness I just had, where he used his PK Thunder close to the ledge, I used Up Tilt and dragged him towards me, interrupting his Up B and making him fall to his death :troll:

This isn't really applicable in a competitive match but if you go on top of a rolling crate and use u-tilt the windbox will move the box forward, hitting anyone unfortunate enough to be in its path. I call it the ganon train.

It's that windbox that makes it difficult to punish when used for ledge pressure with the right timing:
Take :marthmelee:'s or :dedede:'s FSmashes and imagine that they were unchargeable and without their higher hitboxes. In that case anyone could just go above their hitboxes. The windbox opposes this movement, making it extremely difficult to properly circumvent, yet this is for most characters the only way to punish it when timed correctly, because of the combination of high range and low endlag that is common among the UTilt and the afermentioned FSmashes. For that same reason, if you hard read ypur opponent landi onstage just use it whenever they are recovering and enjoy.

There are scenarios, although very rare, where Utilt can sort of checkmate ppl. Even good players.
*edit: Also, it's character-dependant.

Ike is a character I use utilt on a lot. The windboxes affect his sword during his recovery. Utilt drags Ike onto the stage for his landing and has too much lag to get away. It requires Ike to be perfect with his recovery and not allow his sword to poke above the ledge. (No Ike player does that. They almost always poke to keep players away from the ledge).
