Smash Journeyman
ive been trying to learn up smash OOS but every time i try it i get shield grab or jump up air. is there something im missing? i thought it was just a jump canceled up smash but maybe im wrong. any tips will help. Thanks

Up smash OOS

You have to use the C-Stick for Usmash OOS as far as I know because pressing A while in the jumpsquat in shield will activate a JC Grab OOS because you are hitting L/R+A which activates a grab. Jump Uair means you inputted the move after you jumped although based on what you said, I would guess the problem is that you are hitting A.

Just flick your control stick up and your c-stick right after

You can let go of the shield button and hit A. In fact, you can let go of the shield button before you activate the jump. If you jumped right after shield stun ended, it makes no difference which method you used.
