Up-air can do what D-tilt can.

except maybe hit short characters- since it has less range.


landing with an up-air can lead to all the comboes that dtilt can do.

up-air to KO punch
up-air to utilt etc...


use it to mix up a landing situation- get used to the timing and range and you can get a surprise kill off. fastfall up-air into your opponent charging an attack looking to exploit mac's limited landing options. unlike landing with nair- upair will true combo


even then, apart from landing with upair- dtilt/utilt/upair to upair works too.


just dont forget about up-air and what it can do. not necessarily a bread and butter tool but it will come in handy

i also didnt include this because its hard for me to save it as a replay but "short hop air dodge to upair"

this is the lowest possible upair and its easy to perform. why would you want to use this?

just a mixup for chars like ZSS, or DHD, luigi ,etc who like to shoot a projectile then run in for a grab/dash attack.
approach them with the shad to avoid the projectile then get the upair to intercept them.

even without projectile- just rushing in with a shad to upair is a solid punish.
like for example a bowser uses his upb OOS but you manage to avoid the initial hit. you can rush in with a shad to avoid the rest of the attack and get the upair in.

airdodge also has more intangibility for frames 2 - 25 as opposed to spotdodge's 2 - 16 and rolls 4 - 16
upair will connect to upsmash for damage and as a kill confirm. the window for upair to upsmash/KO punch as a kill confirm is bigger than dtilt. you can also use shad to nair because its easier to connect, but nothing true combos out of it.

situational- but very useful to know. i commonly use this to punish dedede upb landing, bowser/charizard fire breath, sheik grenade thingy, DK down b, dedede/kirby swallow grab, metaknight tornado. these are just very easy to punish- you can be smart and react to any move really.
