Hi. I'm new to the forums and a fellow Kirby mainer. I think I'm OK but I won't be beating any of you guys any time soon. I've seen a bunch of Kirby videos and I've noticed that very few if any pros use Kirby's n-air and f-tilt. I'd like to know if it's because there are better moves to use, or if there is some other reason. Thanks for the input.

N-Air has a lot of lag time in the air and little knock back and you have to be really close to hit anybody with it. And the F-tilt has little range than before, but still good knock back, but his F-Smash is more reachable.

During a match I normally forget about Nair but I will rarely use ftilt.

but Nair is not really needed for performing any combos.

Ftilt is mainly because SH Fairs and Bairs are usually a better "poking bet", and on the ground Dtilt is safer.
Nair because there's almost no range and you have to auto-cancel it into another move on the ground.

I use them occasionally, but they aren't as important to use as others. Good for mixing it up though.

You have it right on the money there, N air and F tilt are both rather garbage, N air is the worst by far though.

I wouldn't think fair is safe for poking in the sense Ftilt would be. Ftilt works wonders for me, although many of mine could be Fsmashes.

Sometimes staying grounded is good for Kirby, and an ftilt is a way of snagging someone who's in the right spot in front of you. It doesn't K.O. but it leaves you safe while still permitting some techchasing.

dtilt, yes, steals a lot of its fame.

Nairs, also, I think are undervalued. Not by much, because it is risky when you have bair (or dair), but SHAD'ing, and just falling on people with it (from a juggle; no fast fall), are ways to get some damage, and to change tempo to reduce aggro, respectively.

Worthless against anyone with priority, of course.

Actually, n-air leads to an inescapable combo of 2 jabs at low percents...still useless.

I would only consider using it for returning from the ledge.

I use f-tilt to give me a free sec. or so. But the main reason i think i do use it is because it breaks my "combos". Nair i think is too laggy. I do it for mindgames though.

ftilt can still be usefull. especially when they are close you can use it as it is fast. do not be misled these moves have their applications.

About the only thing i use N-air for is to auto-cancel it into a jab combo. It can rack up some good damage. Other then that i often only use it rarely when my opponent is much to close for comfort and i need some space. ( even then though there's still better moves to use)

I tend to use nair when I know someone will airdodge right on top of me as no matter what direction they go kirbys hitbox will still be out in that spot.

Also a nair is great to just use really fast right before you hit the ground since it has no landing lag. ie the opponent sees you bair so they go in for a dash grab but you do a nair a fraction of a second before you hit the ground and they get hit instead.

ftilt is very situational but I do use it sometimes. It has a bit more range than a dtilt and I pretty much use it only as a counter attack (outprioritize their attack or just use it because its faster) or when dtilt won't hit them but ftilt will (this can be after doing two dtilts while they shield then popup for an ftilt)

I think I use these moves sometimes in my videos too lol
They are just more situational than kirbys other moves. Personally I like to use every single one of kirbys moves to their full potential XD They all have their uses at one point or another.

I don't really use n-air much. It's more of an interruptor, or if you used f-air or b-air too much. F-tilt is pretty good if you're trying to save that f-smash.

i use the f-tilt often. it has good range and it helps to switch up with the d-tilt for spacing and being unpredictable

Florida; I consider myself a decent brawl player.
Basically, forward tilt is a substitute of a forward smash. If you find yourself in a situation where you just know you can hit them with a forward smash but want to save this move for a KO, you use forward tilt instead. I find myself using it at least a few times per stock. It's also pretty hard to punish (unless you're fighting Snake, lawlz).

The main reason why neutral air isn't used often is because usually back air will do the job better, plain and simple. The best time to use neutral air is right before you hit the ground, but with it's lack of range, it's very risky and doesn't help with spacing. Back air simply spaces better and can usually prevent from getting shield grabbed, while neutral air cannot. But, it's always good to mix it up every now and then, so it never hurts to use it every once and a while to not become predictable.

One of the ways the ftilt is good to instead of the fsmash in the early % is not only to keep the fsmash fresh for the higher % is the fact that it is faster which is imo one of the biggest parts of spacing.
