Untapped Controller Potential?

I've read that the people making Brawl have been like "dont throw away your GC controllers just yet" meaning there will prlly be a port or somtin' rather.

My question to y'all is, do you think they will make better use of the controller? (IE using the D-pad for more than just taunt / hidden moves) as well as set either L or R (instead of both) for shield? and only using either x/y to jump? and just stick to one move for grab, whether it's z or r+a..

And if you guys DO think they will tap this controller potential, what do you think the buttons will be used for? ^_^

A crawl button. But I don't think it will be any of the buttons you mentioned. It'll probable be a combo of crouch and a button.

Double tap down, then press forwards or back? That seems like it could work unless something from the second trailer disproves this (don't remember).

Well there isn't a whole lot they really have to add. Crouching could be done with D pad. Air grabs if they are in would just be Z in the air. Some people like to use X to jump, others like Y. They probably want to avoid getting rid of one of those jumps buttons for something else, unless it's absolutely necessary- of course, people can adapt. It would, however, be a mistake to add a bunch of techniques in that require complicated button combinations. If they add too many special techs, it could scare newbies and weak-spined children away.

I like the fact that there are so many different ways to do the actions in Smash. I would cry if I couldn't use the L button to Shield/grab/sidestep/airdodge/wavedash, as all the skill I've gained in the game would be worthless.

well possibly they could have an option menu where you can allocate all the commands to your liking.

Well that would cause a whole lot of drama at tournaments due to players setting the buttons to their liking
