Sometimes, there just isn't much you can do. You can reflect on yourself and how you've gotten to where you're at, but in the end, sometimes it just doesn't matter. You're in the **** you're in and there isn't any way around it.

If you haven't checked out Parkway Drive's "Deep Blue" yet, it's a fantastic concept album. Winston McCall's own words on the concept of the album,

"It’s basically about the search for truth in a world that seems to be devoid of that. The story is told through the eyes of a man who wakes up and realises that his life is a lie and nothing he believes in is real. So he tries to find the truth within himself and his journey takes him to the bottom of the ocean and back again."

From beginning to end, it progresses through the man's struggle, with literal and metaphorical interpretations of his thoughts and experiences.

Right now, I'm feeling some Unrest.

I've walked these streets a thousand times,
Still this world never seemed colder.
Compromised a thousand times
To the will of malicious minds.

Reality never hit so ****ing hard.
Crushed by endless desperation, endless surrender.

Retrace the steps, retrace the steps.
Is this what I have become?
Retrace the steps, retrace the steps.
What the **** have I become?

Security, illusion for the weak.
Refuge, sought in routine.
Another gear in the ****ing machine.

See, you can win the rat race
But you're still
Nothing but a ****ing rat.
So seek that crown, because in this kingdom of fools
True ignorance reigns supreme.

I see this city for what it is,
Retrace the steps, retrace the steps
A monument
To the depths of human misery.
Retrace the steps, retrace the steps
What have we become?

This realization kicks off the whole personal journey that the man goes on, with the next track, Sleepwalker, detailing his new view on the rest of humanity-- those who have not made the realization that he has. On one hand, he is grateful for his realization, but on the other, it leaves him with nothing but disgust and confusion for all that he has known and what it means for his own future.

"How the **** am I supposed to feel when everything I've known lies broken at my feet?"

From beginning to end, every track is absolutely killer and extremely deep and well written lyrically to boot. You gotta love Parkway Drive, if you haven't checked out Deep Blue, what are you waiting for? If you've never heard of Parkway Drive, grab Horizons and Killing with a Smile while you're at it :)
