Now i made this thread with a goofey title to wonder, what do you think it will be like trying to unlok those stages and get those hidden characters in brawl. Will it be as annoyin gas that 15 minute melee or event match 51? or will it be like playing vs. mode for 20 hours, now that wouldn' be so bad with online considering that gives us the option to have an insane amount of fun. Give me your opinions.

I'm guessing the obvious best unlocks would be the most difficult to acquire.
I have a feeling Sonic would be one of the hardest unlocks (if he is not a starter). You'd probably have to do something like beat Classic mode on Very Hard without losing a life.

More like do it in under X minutes.

He IS the world's fastest hedgehog, after all...

Heck, he can do some of the things The Flash can do.

Sonic clearly has a part in the story mode, so I would guess unlocking him would be easy.

Imagine in adventure mode somehtings could be unlock by doing certain things right.eg destroying a spapce pirate base to end up fighting ridley(ridley for pc for brawl plz)right but if you dont succed you must go back at some point when it lets you.say on a random level you are playing as mario.u stumble upon a portal.u pass through another appears in front of you.you must quickly pass through all the portlas to enter the 'power'pit(as i will call it)where as massive beast lies known as chaos(lol)defeat him and you get to fight sonic once adventure is completed.defeat him and he is unlocked.

if adventure mode is going to play as a proper game there will be hidden bits in it no dout.

yay i brought up a topic.puzzle elements could be very...finicky..say a button must be switch in a matter of 10 seconds.you are playing a DK and the button is miles away.hmm..this could get annoying.or another example.the road ahead is a heavy storm or something.only dk in the goodies team could do this by picking up a tree.hmm but if sakurai is going for all players he may not make it that hard.

I've got a big feeling that there isn't gonna be those weird unlocks like the one EGM gave, and also the one that unlocked Mewtwo. There's a possibility that you just meet them in the Subspace Emmisary and fight them, which will lead them to join the cast.

*Idea inspired by the game Spiderman: Friend or Foe*

nah that would defeat the porpose of the player using everything.the way that was used to unlock character in melee mainly forced you to do everything at least oncce(wire frames, event match)if you just met them in subspace the other extras would be forgoten about.we would be trying to best our favourtie character instead.

I still hope they have a dual mode of unlocking important things like characters and stages. Either do classic mode in a set number of minutes without losing a life, for example, or play 1000 matches to unlock a certain stage. That way you can unlock everything quickly if you know how, and you won't miss anything if you play long enough.

I'm sure Sonic if not the last 3rd party character will have to be unlocked once everybody else has which would have incloved vs.Time play, some crazy game mode like break the targets or homerun contest, or beating Subspace Emmisary or classic on the highest difficulty with losing a stock

I'm actually expecting Sonic, along with Snake, to be unlocked very quickly. They are immensely popular, so I don't think it would do to make them hard to acquire.

I guess your right, but then who will probably be the last or most difficult to unlock?

Yeah, I think they'll put the strange retro character last, like they did with Game & Watch. So Pac-Man, or Balloon Fighter, or whatever will be the last unlockable. And like Game & Watch, that character will probably be a bit underpowered. More of a gimmick than anything else.

Ugh, the 15 minute melee one and Unlocking Mewtwo was a pain.

I'd hate for it to be like that again. But by the looks of it, Sakurai is making this easier for the Wii's reputation for "easy games" , so we probably won't see much of that.

Normally I'd disagree with a statement like that, but I believe you may be right.

Nevermind; I disagree.

It takes what, about 4-8 hours of continuous, focused play to unlock all the characters and stages in Melee (just a rough estimate)? I think we'll have the same deal in Brawl, only this time it'll take 7-12 hours because of the increased number of characters and stages that we'll be getting.

In other words, I expect the difficulty to remain the same. Although I realize I didn't really back up that argument...well, whatever.

i read somewhere there is no unlockable characters (which would suck)
i forget where it was, i think IGN or something......but they said it was because of online play.....thoughts

You'd probably have to beat some modes with every character, beat modes in a certain difficulty, beat minigames and stadium contests. Basically the usual.
