Unlockables

This is a must read for people with questions about if their unlockable characters are going to be in the game

This isn't about any specific character but... The unlockable characters (Jigglypuff, Luigi, etc.), most likely are not going to be released. What's the point of knowing who an unlockable is? It ruins the fun that some of us enjoy of seeing an off the wall character pop-up and be able to play as them after beating them?

Anybody agree?

Or are you going to flame me for no reason? :D

I also think they he will release the unlocked and a handful of unlockables so we know that he actually put more newcomers in.

The unlockable characters and stages will eventually show up on the site, though most likely after the game is released. It wouldn't serve them much good to keep them hidden a month after the game's out, since everyone will know about them by then anyway.

Exactly. I don't want all the surprises to be ruined riht away, but chances are VERY likely that we will all know about the characters before the game is released. Just like with Melee, a game guide will probably be released before it even hits shelves. Wasn't melee's guide like that? Or at least it was made way before it hit shelves...anyways, everything will most likely be posted up on the dojo before Brawl's release.

The one thing that I look forward to the most in a Super Smash Bros. game is hearing that suspenseful music, seeing a character silhouette and reading "A NEW CHALLENGER IS APPROACHING!" or something along those lines. It gets me excited to see who it is.

Though, even if Sakurai releases all of the characters before the game is released, I will be a bit disappointed, but I'll still find all the fun in it. :]

Finishing a certain number of VS. Matches in Melee was just an alternate way of unlocking the characters.

We don't know for sure if Metaknight and Snake are unlockables.
For all we know, they could be right there in the char. selection screen when you start the game.

I really hope they save all the secrets until a while after the game is released.
Apart of what made Melee fun when I first started playing it was unlocking everything.

I pretty sure i read somewhere (dont ask me for the link because i dont have it) that he wont release unlockable characters (mainly third parties) until Brawl is, or is about to be, released.

Dont quote me on this, but he'll release one 3rd party character each week after the game's released.
Of course Sakurai will release alot of characters b4 the release date, but some will be reserved. I'm thinking he'll release unlockables that we expect and leave the WTFs for after 12.3.07.

i think that sakurai will save the most suspenseful surprises for right near the release, like sonic if he does end up being featured.

but, i think every character will be revealed on the website a week after the release at the latest.

I think sakura will reveal all the starting characters and then revealing the unlockable ones. If he didn't reveal the unlockable ones then we wouldn't know most of the newcomers.

He'd reveal most of them, at least. People will want to see why they should buy the game, and showing them new characters may be a way of convincing them. IDK, but I do think all will be shown before the release. If not...well, I bet the news of characters will leak out some how. That last sentence was KINDA off-topic, but who cares?
