Does anyone else feel like this game is unfinished like were missing a intro for the game and characters have brawl sound clips and you can't even look at the trailers in game.

Same here. I'm not expecting the 3DS to be equal to the Wii U in terms of content (and would hope not since that would mean the Wii U version is barren) so this doesn't bother as much. However, if all of these complaints about it being "barren" are still around for the Wii U, then I'll get annoyed.I think that the reason there's no intro and all that is because of the limited storage size of the 3DS. We always knew that the 3DS version would have less features than the Wii U version, so it's no real surprise that the game seems "unfinished". For me at least, I'll just be playing the 3DS version until the Wii U version comes out and then only playing the 3DS version with friends.
Yeah this.I don't think this game is unfinished it has alot of content.
It's the fact they cut corners.I'm not sure I'm following on how that shows it's unfinished. If it's not there to begin with then maybe it was never meant to be.

I don't think that's what the topic was getting at.Yeah this.
Most of those aren't signs of an unfinished product. It just means that the game didn't have some of the things you wanted in it. What we got is clearly packed with content and well polished. It's the fact they cut corners.
- Tons of characters re-using old sound clips
- Lack of any videos (Sakurai confirmed the trailers would be in the game, though didn't specify a version)
- Many series only getting retro stages
- No CPP support, yet it works on New 3DS (and this shouldn't be a RAM issue like the other stuff)
- etc
There's just a lot of porting.
There's also a lot of weird decisions made with how things work/were changed in menus/modes and the game seems like they actually wanted to build it for the New 3DS, but held it back so that everyone could play instead of alienating people and lessening the sales (since not everyone would just upgrade to a New 3DS, especially when they want people to buy a 3DS in general for the game too).
They also gave a solid deadline and year and wanted to get it done by then. Notice we still don't have a date for SSBU? They probably had to rush some stuff at the end. Obviously some stuff is simply because the 3DS can't handle a game of this scale, but not everything can be written off with that excuse.
I don't think that's what the topic was getting at.
It's how the content is presented and the things that ARE missing and the fact they reused a lot of stuff.
Wait I did not know about slow loading and how the game resets your system when you exit it. Can this kind of stuff be patched?I don't think it's unfinished as much as it's the hardware significantly held them back in a few areas.
- 30fps AT's
- 20fps bottom screen
- No in-game browser/Miiverse outside of N3DS's
- No CPP support
- Slow loading
- Game resets the system when you exit it
- No intro video
These are the signs of a game that are held together by tiny bits of string and spit more than being unfinished. I'm VERY curious to see what the Wii U version has. I think that it has to feel more than just 'more Smash Bros.' like this kinda does.
For that matter, I'm also curious to see what N3DS brings to the table for this game beyond C-Stick/Browser/Miiverse support.
Apparently, these things are going to be fixed when playing on the New 3DS. Definitely makes me think that this game was a part of why the New 3DS was developed.Wait I did not know about slow loading and how the game resets your system when you exit it. Can this kind of stuff be patched?
Are you kidding me? What the hell. That's actually bull****. Ive gone from being hyped again back to my salty state. I own a 3DS XL which is already a different 3DS version, why the **** should I buy another one. Ive owned a Ds lite and a Dsi, this is just stupid.Apparently, these things are going to be fixed when playing on the New 3DS. Well...it's less than 2gb, and on the cart it's 2.1gb (apparently). So since it's a 4gb cart, they obviously had some room to maneuever with.My theory is that they just stripped out unneeded stuff like videos to save the 3DS some memory. Game's already very demanding on the 3DS' cpu. And that the 3DS version is basically just miniature Smash on the go, whereas the Wii U version will be the full experience we all know; think along the lines of Sonic Adventure 2 with its Dreamcast controller/GBA connectivity in the Chao Garden.
We already know the Wii U will have exclusive stages and more challenging content, so it's obvious that'll be the "full" game.
Screw the new 3DS. Why should I have to pay like 250 dollars just to play smash bros nicely?Well...it's less than 2gb, and on the cart it's 2.1gb (apparently). So since it's a 4gb cart, they obviously had some room to maneuever with.
I feel like, just by looking at the 3DS version, characters/stages/features/modes were cut because the system simply couldn't handle it.
Now I do think this game (and Pokemon X/Y and the CPP) were the reason why the N3DS exists.
The current 3DS already plays it at constant 60 FPS, but if the new 3DS were originally there, Smash 4 probably would've had more rstuff on the 3DS version. The new one is basically just something they wanted to do probably after getting fed up with the original 3DS' limitations.Screw the new 3DS. Why should I have to pay like 250 dollars just to play smash bros nicely?
Because the new 3ds is more powerful and is more capable running the game more smoothly. The current 3ds would fall apart trying to do that. Plus it's still perfectly playable with the old 3ds so it's not like you are being forced to get a New 3ds to play the game.Screw the new 3DS. Why should I have to pay like 250 dollars just to play smash bros nicely?

Honestly, I just think of this game as a training grounds for the Wii U version. The fact that it's a bit feature-light doesn't really phase me.
Though I doubt sound clips will change.
Calm the hell down. Are you kidding me? What the hell. That's actually bull****. Ive gone from being hyped again back to my salty state. I own a 3DS XL which is already a different 3DS version, why the **** should I buy another one. Ive owned a Ds lite and a Dsi, this is just stupid.
is the 7,980 blocks only for the digital version of the game? Because if not, then I'm gonna need a bigger SD card.I'm just gonna throw this here and let the speculation begin...

The digital version can end up taking 17300 blocks. For now it just takes 9320 blocks.is the 7,980 blocks only for the digital version of the game? Because if not, then I'm gonna need a bigger SD card.
So how many gigs would I need in order to just save my progress? The digital version can end up taking 17300 blocks. For now it just takes 9320 blocks.
Save data takes very little space, but the full game apparently will take 2.1 GB, so you'll need at least a 4 GB SD card.So how many gigs would I need in order to just save my progress?
Okay. thanks for clarifying.Save data takes very little space, but the full game apparently will take 2.1 GB, so you'll need at least a 4 GB SD card.
To be honest I think the only reason it lacks an intro is it would be a waste of cartridge and download space.Brawl and Melee were supposedly rushed to meet a deadline. Wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened here. After all, Smash 4 is expected to be the "saviour of the Wii U", it'd only make sense if Sakurai had to force its completion by Christmas when he (hypothetically) wanted more time.
That said, I also wouldn't be surprised if the Wii U version had an intro.
ALL HAIL COMMON SENSE2 points. First, from what I saw the livestream loading times were better than Brawl (but that could be my 7 year old Wii on my 5 year old disc). Second, you can call it the smaller version, the portable version, maybe even the casual version, but don't call it the lesser version. The 3DS game WILL sell more than the WiiU game. That is a fact, and that fact will never change. If this game doubles WiiU sales, they're still going to a smaller market.
This is not the first time you've responded to me as if I claimed no one should enjoy the 3DS version and it might as well not even exist. For your sake, I hope Smash 3DS is the most enjoyable experience you've ever had with Smash game and that you legitimately see no desire for the Wii U version.*facepalms*
You mean the main version of the game, the one which will actually sell, is a training ground?
lel
Most likely scenario is that they cut cutscenes at the last minute for space.I'm just gonna throw this here and let the speculation begin...
