I'm not really sure how to explain what I'm asking but how do you shine backwards but still be able to cancel it with a jump? Like say you jump off to shine spike someone but your facing them when you jump how do you shine the other way and still jump cancel it? I try but the full shine comes out when I try to do it backwards and I cant cancel it. If you know what I'm talking about please help.

Shine has hitstun. So unlike when you do it without hitting anyone (which you can jump out in 2/3 frames if your turning around in shine).

So your issue is that your doing the motion most likely too fast. You can practice on a level 1 Bowser or something by jumping on stage and shine turn jump out. I typically try to shine and just moonwalk the jump out. That usually keeps it slow enough for me.

When I see people do it fox is already in the backwards position of his shine. When I do it you can see him turning around in his shine. So should I hit back on the control stick before the shine? Is that the reason I cant do it?

You hit down+B as usual but then you rotate the stick towards whichever direction u want fox to turn then jump out.

so:
1. down b
2. rotate controller quickly to turn
3. jump

Also, you can just straight up do reverse shines in mid air. Just like how you can do turnaround neutral B's or turnaround Up B, if you just hit slightly backwards on the stick from the direction you're facing +B it auto-turns and you are already turned around as soon as the shine is out.

shine -> hit opposite direction -> jump

if your using button to jump out try using up on the stick (Vise Versa)

i find stick jump to be faster. and BTW you cant jump out if shine is out to long its has to be done moderately fast.

yea shineturnaround when hitting someone has different timing then empty shine, which is superer annoying. like arcnatural saids you have to wait a minute before you jump if you hit someone with the shine, if not then its just downb-right/left->up/jump as fast as you can

You can do it like this, just hold slightly in the backwards direction, shine and jump out, but you still need to wait the 5-6 frames of hitlag before jumping out.

I'll close this now.
