True Story-A thread for our lost replays.

With replays being lost every now and then due to patches, I thought it fitting to set up a storytelling thread where we talk about fights or matches lost to time.

Now of course, unless you captured the matches and uploaded before the patches, we won't know for sure if you're telling the truth-but that's naturally a part of the fun of this thread. From the believable to the absurd, from what happened to what never was, tell your stories and have fun!

Well, I remember I had an incomplete reply that I saved when playing a very laggy match online on my New 3DS. When it got to a point where the match just pause and then has the Smash logo loading icon rolling... and then return to the replay selection screen.

My two brothers once got one game and two different FD stage glitch as well. I do have the video though.

But just as I was about to GG and leave he changed his nickname.

Curiosity getting the better of me, I go another round with this guy. He picks Rosalina and Luma and tries to go ham. The Luma dies six times before the match ends with me narrowly two stocking him. I had never seen a more abusive Star Mom.
"LMAO, GG."
He ignores me and gets ready again. It was a Little Mac ditto.
But not just any Little Mac ditto, oh no, the most aggressive, feet at the gas pedal, finely roasted ham of a Little Mac ditto in history, the kind that would get tournament players uneasy if they were told they weren't allowed to use shield.
He gets the KO punch and awfully times his taunts.
I get the dash attack during his silly pose and win from there.

It was in the last few stocks of a 99 stock battle, so you had to wait about 10 minutes just to see it anyways

Read a get-up roll and punished it with a Falcon Punch. Hardest of reads man.
I also got this 23% two-stock against some dude I was doing Falcon dittos with. The guy was actually a REALLY good player, I was just on fire during that game and managed to destroy him that round.
The rest are just awesome knees, or random/awesome moments that will probably never happen to me again.

A fight I used to be particularly proud of was against a Ganondorf.

We were trading blows a lot, and at the time I think the Ganondorf was a little more skilled then I. But I won thanks to not really taking chances with my first kill (ended up eventually countering a forward Smash, sending him soaring at 186%).

I was at around 96% when the fight ended with a jab, a forward Smash and a KO Punch (he rolled forward when he got up from the F-Smash)

In hindsight, I could have played it a lot better, but I was just starting and it's still a fond memory since I won in next to impossible odds.

Fought a buddy online, his Fox vs. my Lucina.

Match came down to our last stocks, my damage was around the upper 100's.

He caught me in a jab-combo, attempting to use the first two jabs to lead into a Up-Smash.

As his second jab connects, he fires off the Up-Smash; with me being in the perfect position and percentage to be KO'ed.

...And I grab him just before the attack could connect.

One back throw and some aerial shenanigans from yours truly concludes the match with me as the victor.

It saddens me that the double falcon punch that my partner got during our doubles friendlies is gonna get lost in the next patch

Some time earlier this year I decided to give Dr. Mario a try on 1v1 For Glory. Who do I find? None other than Diddy Kong, who at the time still had his dreaded d-throw -> up-air combo. I lost the first match since all he did was the banana -> d-throw -> up-air, and he kept taunting.

Next match I switch to Wario and he switches to Ness. He uses a crap ton of pk-fire -> d-throws but I manage to beat him. As soon as I leave the results screen, he has his name set to "UJUSTSPAM". REALLY?!?! You just spammed the crap out of pk-fire and you're calling ME a spammer? Heck I barely even used my bike that round (but then again he already had that name prepared so he's most likely said that to everyone).

I wanted to teach this guy a lesson, so this time I decided to play as a character who I wasn't as good with and couldn't spam as much, Luigi (yeah I know what you're thinking but at the time I didn't know much of his d-throw combos), while he switches back to Diddy. I take his first stock and he comes charging at me. I roll then hit him with the last hit of Luigi's dash attack, knocking him off of the stage a bit. As he side-B's to the stage I hit him with a fireball which results in him falling down and messing up his up-B. I taunted at him (this punk deserved it) and then the game lags for a few seconds. On the result screen his bar thing instantly disappears and he was no where to be seen, which means that he quit as soon as he lost his last stock and I taunted.

Probably my favorite was a local 3DS match where I was Dark Pit and I was up against a Ness and a Robin. Robin had fully charged thunder and fired it but I reflected it back with electroshock glove and this giant pillar of light just flew off the stage.

2nd favorite moment was as Palutena reflecting a tree that was coming right at me on For Glory.

I played this Falcon as Kirby... He was pretty good, but was trying a little too hard to land a Falcon Punch on me. I copied him with Inhale. In his last stock, I knocked him off-stage... he grabbed the edge, rolled to the center of the stage... and I Falcon Punched him.
I also Kirbycided a Pikachu in a tournament. I have the video, but no Replay!
The most, most epic was a Falcon vs. Ganon battle. It is pretty old, probably from the 1.0.4 days. I Falcon Punched him off-stage. But we both died!
My mom's Ganondorf killed my Falcon with the... Edge get-up attack.

There was once a time my friend an I were playing as & VS & in a 2V2 For Glory match. During the last 30 seconds of it my friend managed to get smacked off the stage, and knowing Ganondorf even with his side B he wouldn't manage to recover. It was at that same time I Down Smashed the Ness player off to the same side and, I kid you not, my friend grabbed him straight from the air and Ganoncided. So basically, I passed Ness right to him and caused it to be a neutral KO (+1 & -1) instead of them getting the +1 for his death.

Was the greatest thing we've ever done.

One time I fought this guy who had the nickname "King Diddy (or Diddy King, could never remember)"

It was clear he was proud of his Diddy Kong and worked on it for a while (he actually knew how Diddy worked beyond Hoo-Ha). Maybe a little too proud as he taunted after he was able to combo me close to 50% at the beginning of the first fight, but I think I wiped the cockiness away when he Side-B'ed into a KO punch for the win (always an immense pleasure when facing Diddy).

That said, I couldn't help but feel a bit guilty after I won the second fight, as he sent me high offstage, tried to go for an aerial only to be hit with the back end of Jolt Haymaker almost out of nowhere. He disconnected almost immediately after. I know pride is a good thing to wound, but I hope there were no hard feelings.

One time, on for fun smash, I was dark pit. This other villager person was chopping trees down at the corner of the ceiling lights and when I reflected them, they became flying trees.

Also, when i played with my online friends, I was villager and i was dropping trees and bowling balls at them. They reflected it then one time, the bowling ball that i pocketed randomly jumped back up the lights and hit me instead which KOd me.

Good times..

I can't believe I forgot this till now, but I had an old match called "THE MINDGAMES"

I was fighting a Lucina and we were pretty evenly matched despite me winning the first fight. But come the second...everything became so stupid.

So early in the fight I put them offstage and by just the slightest bit, just the slightest fraction of distance they misjudge whether or not they'll grab the stage and then counter. I felt the second-hand embarrassment as they die at 27%.

"Okay, whatever, happens to the best of us..."

After some standard Lucina vs Mac shenanigans I get the KO Punch and being cautious I pull back to reset. They stand by the ledge. Five seconds pass. Nothing.

I slowly walk toward them. Another five seconds. Nothing. I begin crouching up and down and throw out an Up-Smash. Nothing. I move forward just a bit more and then they crouch.

"The hardest of reads!" I exclaim with hushed breath.

7 seconds later I tiptoe my way to the freest KO Punch in history. The fight ended at 2:10. My foe disconnected immediately after.

True Story.

Referencing the taunt, then? Seemed more like a Shulk/ZSS nickname at first. Also a pretty crappy way to say you don't like someone, if you ask me.

Anyway, now it's Shulk time!

But before that, let's regail the fact that my first time ever using Pitoo was in For Glory, because I took too long. Still beat her.

I beat a juggle-happy Falcon who didn't understand "DI" or "killing below 150%" at 60% with a hard read Fsmash sweetspot - switching into Smash mode at the same time.

I managed to die on the same frame as a Wario, forcing sudden death. Taunting after that was a bad idea, Wario...

Dying at a very low % due to overestimating my air friction after being forced into helplessness against a Link... and then going ham on her by switching between Jump, Speed, and Buster to take the win - finishing by Speeding through the startup lag of side-B, pivot grabbing, sliding to the edge, and backthrowing, then gimping with a backair and feeling it.

Also, Olimar. After barely losing to a Lucina, I pulled out Olimar and zoned him so badly he double suicided and used preprepared salt tags before ragequitting.

I was playing against a DeDeDE as Ike.

I decided to charge up and Eruption while he was off-stage, and he tried to knock a gordo at me. He was too close to me, so I let loose Eruption on reaction.

Hit hit DeDeDe and the Gordo with it,getting the KO spark, and DeDeDe also got hit by the gordo, which didn't save him at all.

This just happened to me a while ago on FG, and this wasn't as much of a lost replay as it was me being absent minded and forgetting to save it for the fun of viewing later. Well I guess that, in a way, that technically makes it lost...

So anyway, I've been training with Captain Falcon lately. I had a great, fun match against this other Falcon today, and the guy was very good and seemed pretty friendly too. I managed to make it close, but I made the mistake of trying a pivot Falcon Punch right as he started a normal one, and since the normal comes out faster, his hit and KO'd me. It was a hilarious mistake, and I couldn't help but laugh at it!

So later in the match I knocked the other Falcon off the stage and went after him. I hit him with the sour spot of the Knee, so it merely knocked him away a bit, and then I started plummeting dangerously low. So as an off-the-wall, last ditch effort to recover, I Up Special towards him to purposely get grabbed by his Up Special, and then when I get launched I tech off the wall of the stage to prevent getting bounced off, and then safely grab the ledge after that. We were on the FD form of Delfino Plaza.

MAN, I wish I thought to save that one! I lost, but I had a lot of fun at least.

I have two that I wish to say goodbye to.
#1 was a Villager. I was playing as Mario. He got me offstage, and like every For Glory Villager, he dropped a bowling ball down on me, which I Caped and took his first stock with. He then proceeds to plant a tree and hide behind it. Predictable as can be, he chopped it down the moment I got too close, which I Caped, breaking his shield. After I combo'd him to kingdom come, he hid behind another tree, which again, I Caped, and killed him at like, 50%.
#2 was my Jigglypuff vs. a Ganondorf. I was prepared for this to be an easy victory, since Jigglypuff has no problem dealing with Ganondorf. Turns out, he was actually pretty good and I found myself losing. Then I must've activated the Power of Nothingness or some ****, because I then proceeded to beat. His. Ass. I was running on pure instinct, I wasn't thinking about what I was doing, but I was hitting him with move, after move, after move, after move. Before I knew it, he missed a tech near the edge and I dash attacked him for it, securing my victory, without taking another hit. I then snapped out of my little trance and saved that sumbitch.
