I've been trying for the past few days but I just can't seem to get the him on the tip of his blade. Can anyone give me pointers on how to do it. Like how far you should jump off and when the right times to do it are. I would post vids of my progress but i do not have any decent recording hardware. Thank you.

On a more helpful note, go into training mode, set the CPU to jump. Start a distance away, run at them then jump and try to spike them while flying over them. Once you start getting the hang of that, set the CPU damage (depends on the character your CPU is) enough so that you can throw them off the stage easily, then try jumping out after them.

The spike is situational, there's never a set time to use it (except footstool jump > dair) it all depends where your opponent is, how they DI from previous attack, what character they are ect.

What does help though, RAR off the edge before using the spike.

Something that I discovered in my own training with trying to tip the dair:

Be directly above your opponent with the separation between you two the length of the sword.

Basically, as long as the tip of the blade connects it'll spike. (I've seen a vid where the opponent was in front of Marth and still got spiked.)

Also, if someone is aiming for the edge, if you're timing is too perfect, you can SH dair the ledge and get the spike. Note: if you fail to spike the opponent, chances are you'll get hit from a ledge recovery attack.

space it so you back air facing towards the edge, that will turn you around with your body facing towards the stage. the spike is easier to time facing backwards to the opponent.

kinda like SHFF b-air to turn around grab the edge in melee, but this time you're spiking.

Fair...Air jump and right when u jump Dair...There u go.

Oh and u can use Dancing Blade. The third attck. Use the down one. But i figured out it only works at the beginning of Marths Falchion (Sword). Lol i can show u a video..i used it on mario. In melee u can use it wherever u hit him with it.. Iwonder y they took that out. LOL

oh and it can only be in the air... :)

Change the disc to Melee.
him changing the disc to melee wouldnt help him at all... everyone knows in melee that spiking with marth was hell of a lot easier to do.. you have to hit with the tip of the sword now.. id say that other guy who gave him advice as to the training mode thing would help tremendously try it out manq
