There are other ways of playing as Samus besides z-airing and spamming (Homing Missiles?). Learn to use her f-tilt and angle it diagonally toward the ground. The attack increases by 3%, and it has a good knock-back. Also use Samus' jab (neutral A). It comes out quick and has excellent priority.

On small stages use her jab, dtilt, ftilt, and utilt more often than not. the first 3 are quick, and the utilt covers a wide area and can hit on above platforms. Use unchaged shots more as well. Power missiles work well here too because they have stopping power.

Shield, spot-dodge, air-dodge, whatever. I like to spot-dodge and follow it up with an f-smash. Or, I'll do a short hop, use f-air, and then land it with a d-tilt. Be creative with how you fight against your opponent. Ike, Toon Link, Marth, and Snake shouldn't be a problem for Samus. Ike is slow, so you can hit him with Homing Missiles and z-airs. Toon Link's sword is small, and I dare say, you can clink his sword with your jab, since the jab has such a high priority. I fight on Battlefield and other small stages. I have no problem.

I fought a Marth and an Ike on Battlefield. It was a team battle, of course, but still, I was able to use z-air and physical attacks to defeat them. I did not lose one life, and I had two points. The next round was me and Ike versus Marth and Captain Falcon. This was on Final Destination. I z-aired a few, threw in some f-smashes to defeat my opponents. I ended up with four points, and so did my teammate, though he lost one life. The people I was brawling with may have not been as great. I don't know. If you need to learn how to space yourself and approach these characters you are having trouble with, the only way you'll learn to overcome them is by fighting them over and over again.

Yesterday I brawled with my friend. We went to PictoChat, and he was Marth. I was close to losing, because I had used my f-smash behind Marth while he was using his Shield Breaker and charging it up. The result: I flew to the left, and he flew to the right. He flew out of the stage before I did, but I jumped back and recovered. It was a very close match. There was a slight bit of lag, which affected me. Still, I took Gum's advice and used uncharged Charge Shots and Bombs. (I've been using Bombs lately, and I'll tell you, they do wonders to hinder your opponent.)
