Just started in Smash, eh? Well, if you're SURE you want to use Falco (competitively), here are some confidence-boosting words from me:
- Falco is unforgiving. He is a very good character when played to his fullest, but he is not too good otherwise. All or nothing! Self-destructs may be common.
- Falco is a very technical character, and you may find other characters more appealing in the process of learning him. Remember that.
- Falco has a nice set of beginner-friendly moves (Smash attacks, the "spike", etc), so abuse them to win while learning how and when to use them, along with his other set of moves.
- Falco doesn't take hits well. He is easily comboed, which matches very finely with his abysmal recovery. He has many safe moves along with beginner- friendly ones (Reflector aka the shine, tilt-A moves, etc) so learn to use them, and leave your opponent with few opportunities to punish you.
- Falco needs to fight each character very differently in some way. You may need to play differently against a Fox and then say, a Jigglypuff, in order to win against both.
- Falco dislikes angry players.
Become familiar with the game before anything though, of course.
