Tournment questionare about prize lay outs

I live in the Greather Houston area, And i am planning on hosting one of the biggest SSBB singles and doubles tournment ever i was wondering what people think of this prize lay outs please feel free to speak open and input your ideas, Because i want this to be a good fun event, but to me it is also a bussiness and i am here to make money

1# Question: Prize lay outs to be 1st 70%/2nd 20%/3rd 10% ?

2#Question: Prize layouts to be set amounts Singles::1st 400.00 2nd 200.00 3rd.50. Doubles:: 600.00 2nd 300.00 3rd 100.00

3# Question: wait to collect money than announce prize layout format on attendance

1) thats fine, but if you get a lot of people, you should consider expanding for 5th place or further
2) not so fine, see 3
3) correct, wait to see how many show up then base prize on that.

No one wants to go to a 100 person tournament with a $20 entry fee only to see half of the 2g prize pool go right into the pocket of someone not in the tournament. Your best bet, if you are running a business, is to do was C3 in VA does, for about the first half dozen tournaments they ran they had entry fee determine pot, then they had a seperate "venue fee" between 3 and $5. They've raised the venue fee since they first started, but they also include food/drink, shrug.
