GameClucks
Smash Journeyman
As many of you know, I am GC Guy, the owner of GameClucks, a LAN Center in Lynnwood, WA. We currently host the largest regular monthly SSBB/M tournament in Washington and the largest regular monthly Halo3 tournaments as well.
What many do not know, is that I am also the Ops Manager for TourneyPlay.net.
TourneyPlay.net is a tournament company that I run outside of my LAN Center.
I have some lofty goals for TP...
The short term (2009 and 2010) is to establish a brand of tournaments in the PNW centered on SSBB/M. The goal is 150+ players to every event by Oct 2009. To do this, we would need some support from NorCal I am sure. The goal is to get to a point that we can give away $5000 per event in 2010, maybe late 2009 events as well.
Starting in 2011 (maybe late 2010), I would like to take TourneyPlay on the road, hosting MLG Style events on the West Coast.
While I have no plans to be as big or flashy as MLG, I would like to give away significant cash with these tournaments...about $10,000 per event in 2011.
I am lining up sponsors. I am lining up events. I am lining up venues.
All that I am missing is support from the Smash Community outside of WA and OR.
To make this TP system work, I need people to come to the events. We need a ton of people.
I have the three major events for 2009 already up and posted on AiB.
We want 100 people for the Feb 2009 event and I would like to break 150 by June's event.
In addition to SSBB/M, I plan to also start an Online Halo League and sun some online tournaments.
I am also working with two major game stores to host tournaments for them in their locations, we will see if I can get this set up.
As a business, I am in this to make money, but I am also in this to help build and secure a great set of tournaments for the AiB/Smash Community. I have a plan. I am working that plan. I plan to give away a ton of money. Now all I need is some help from you all. I need you to show up!
I will never make more money from these events then I give away. I will likely give away four or five times more money then I make, maybe more depending how big the events get.
Please check out TourneyPlay.net and check our events out.
We have some well known regulars like Eggz, Gimpyfish, Jem, Bladewise, Kamaji and Valdens to name just a few. There are also 30ish other regulars who I am sure many of you know.
Come check us out and come to the events! Lets get something BIG BIG BIG rolling for SSBB/M!!

The following leagues are coming to a ethernet cable near you in Jan/Feb 2009.
SSBB OnLine League
Halo3 OnLine League
DotA OnLine League
COD4 OnLine League (maybe)
Part of launching TourneyPlay.net is the OnLine Presence. I am working on sponsors for prizes for these leagues now, as I want to keep the Entry Fee's as low as possible.
The reason I am even charging an entry fee is that helps to make sure you play the matchs you have assigned, because you now have money on the line.
So we are talking like $5 a person for SSBB, $5 per Team for Halo3 and DotA (and COD4 if I launch it)
Prizes will be things like Gift Cards to gamestores or electronics stores, free entry into a TourneyPlay.net event, things like that.
These online events are designed to bring name recognition to the brand and create a buzz around the TourneyPlay.net system, which hopefully leads to more people coming to LAN Events, where the real cash and prizes will be handed out.
