So far, it seems like only 3 stages will be legal for competitive play: FD, Battlefield, and Yoshi's Island. Are there any stages that you think could be legal?

I guess it could work, but since it has a lot of transitions it might not be. I'm a bit newer to the scene. Was Isle delphino legal?

You could either have only Ω stages legal or make 6 stage list like Melee
Starter:
Final Destination
Battlefield
Prism Tower
Yoshi's Island
Then here are potential candidates for the 5th starter and single counterpick stage:
Tortimer Island
Brinstar
Arena Ferox
Mute City
Paper Mario

For conservative stagelists:
  • Battlefield
  • Final Destination
  • Some FD forms of other stages (some may have frowned-upon undersides? Iunno)
  • Yoshi's Island
  • Arena Ferox
  • Tortimer Island
  • Maybe Jungle Japes (no more swimming, right?)
  • Maybe Prism Tower
For more liberal stagelists:
  • All of the above
  • All FD forms
  • Brinstar
  • Prism Tower
  • Reset Bomb Forest
  • Jungle Japes
  • Maybe N's Castle
  • Maybe Rainbow Road
  • Maybe Magicant
  • Maybe Mute City
The main party stopper for Magicant is probably the Flying Man. F-Zero looks reasonable to me, but probably won't be allowed since the killing floors have been frowned upon since Mute City was banned in Melee.

If halberd and isle delfino are counterpicks in brawl I see no reason why Prism Tower wouldn't be a counterpick. You realize there's more than just starters right?

I can't imagine Japes being legal either, provided the water acts the same. Which is a shame, it's one of my favorite stages :/

It's probably the one I'm most unsure on, at least what I've watched made it seem like it doesn't push as hard now. I could be wrong, though. The platform setup is nice and whatnot, so I'm at least willing to experiment on it for a while.

As much as I'd love to make some other perma-walkoffs legal, I left them off. Gaur is another I could maybe see being legal in some liberal rulesets, as is Find Mii (heck, maybe Tomodachi or Paper Mario, too). I wish I had the full copy to experiment more, but while there aren't many flat'n'plat stages that people like, there are plenty of decent alternatives if people are willing to give them a shot.

I wish that Paper Mario was just two different stages rather than a transitioning stage.
Is there anything else crazy about that stage? Does the Blooper do anything?
