This is kind of a love it-or-hate it kind of thread. Now, when I play games, any games, I love customization. Total customization. And the more I thought about it, the more I realized.

SSBB needs customzation out the ying-yang.

Okay, some of you are already shaking your heads and are probably going, "Ogre, WTF are you smoking and give me some."

Think about it though: The ability to control a stage's gravity for instance. Want super aerial battles that last forever? Take down the gravity to the max! Want to prevent even the lightest characters from leaving the ground? Up the gravity goes!

The options on items. Choose your items, where they will appear, the frequency and the ability to get rid of those ****ed explosive containers!!!

The options on characters. Change your outfit to look how you want it! Want to see FD grace the screen? Change Link's colors to what YOU want them to be. Want a skeletal Bowser rocking the stage? Change the colors!

Moves! Maybe you could change a move to be faster, but weaker, or slower but stronger! Each character could have hundreds of different "builds!"

Music! Upload your tunes and play some epic duelz with some major kick *** tunes in the back ground!

Stages! Create your own stages! Want to make a flat boring level? GO ahead! Want to fill the screen with enough chaos to send even the most skilled player into a tailspin? Blaze forth and do so!

So what do you guys think? Am I spitting out idiotic ideas from my caffiene/sugar induced high? Or am I channeling some real solid **** here? Give me your ideas folks! I need them for energy!....or not. Yeah, not really....:ohwell:

its creative. i mean i doubt the music part would happen but i would appreciate it if that worked out. but about the colors. given that we could save date on our names and put them in the wiimote, we might be able to have custom costumes/ stage designs to take around

Maybe modifying your character is a bit too much, but I'm all for axing those explosive ****ers.
The modifying your character aspect will delay matches too long.

"JUST START THE DARN MATCH!!!"
"Hang on, my Fox is a tad too fast, I'll always SD"
"..."

And aside from that, everyone will eventually formulate a "best" way to play
each character, and you'll be punished if you don't use it.
It'll lead to its own brand of brokenness.

I think Sakurai knows what he's doing with balance, I don't think he's so bad at
it that he'll let YOU balance the game for him...

I dunno about some of this stuff....

Creating your own stages? Sometimes too much control ends up with really dumb ideas. Some of the stage might just be ridiculous and unfair.

Changing the character would just alter the game too much, and I dont like that.

Not to mention, the entire stage alteration would be banned in tournaments, because one stage would lean too much towards one kind of character ex. heavy/light

I always thought of something like, modifying a character's stock count, in case he wanted a 2 on 3 battle, so we could give him like 2 extra stocks. But nothing too over the top like gravity and whatnot.

It sounds like you want to develop a whole new game, God, that's way too much and it would only be available on versus mode anyway.

Dude, that would take at least triple the capacity of a Wii disk to cover everything you said.

Oh yeah, and the game wouldn't come out til 2012

Eh... I can see some of these being good ideas, but definitely not all

Think about it though: The ability to control a stage's gravity for instance. Want super aerial battles that last forever? Take down the gravity to the max! Want to prevent even the lightest characters from leaving the ground? Up the gravity goes!
I could live with this, but honestly I don't think I'd tweak it much. It would be another one of those modes I never play.

The options on items. Choose your items, where they will appear, the frequency and the ability to get rid of those ****ed explosive containers!!!
Where they appear? Too far. The rest is ok.

The options on characters. Change your outfit to look how you want it! Want to see FD grace the screen? Change Link's colors to what YOU want them to be. Want a skeletal Bowser rocking the stage? Change the colors!
Not feasible. They should just include the major alternate costumes (Dr. Mario, Daisy, maybe skeleton Bower, FD Link, etc) as default or unlockable features.

Moves! Maybe you could change a move to be faster, but weaker, or slower but stronger! Each character could have hundreds of different "builds!"
Hell no. This isn't an RPG

Music! Upload your tunes and play some epic duelz with some major kick *** tunes in the back ground!
No. I don't want people taking off the classic Nintendo soundtracks that they worked hard on and replacing it with **** like Linkin Park

Stages! Create your own stages! Want to make a flat boring level? GO ahead! Want to fill the screen with enough chaos to send even the most skilled player into a tailspin? Blaze forth and do so!
Not feasible, and would just result in a plethora of terrible stages for every decent one. I'm confident they will include enough stages that we won't need this.

Right behind you with a knife.
There are way to many unreasonable ideas in all. Things like the items frequency is already in, and the option to stop those explosions would be good, but where they appear is to much, as said above.

Stage customization seems almost pointless, as the stages that we'll be getting will probably cover everything needed, and anything else would just be a watered down. Color changing to a slight idea would be okay, but making it so much that you have a skeleton is just to much work, and wasted space. The move thing also takes away from the game, since it cheapens the characters, and balance. I'd also prefer to keep my Nintendo music. If you don't like it, just adjust the sound and play your own music. >_>

Well, these are all just some ideas I'm throwing out there. The whole stat thing was just an idea I heard somewhere. I personally don't like it because, as someone above said, is too remincent of RPGs.

I like the music idea because even though Nintendo does have some epic muzack, I would occasionally like to Brawl to the tune of Neogrotesque.

Oh, to add to my last post, I also think the stage Idea would be awesome, (this coming from an "honorable" point of view) because if a stage was unfair, you could just choose not to play it. And tourneys could choose to use only stages that are already pre-made.

Custom coloring would rock because, well, even if there were unlockable costumes, (which there probably wont be, it'll just be crappy *** recolors) some costumes wouldn't be there. So those of us with artistic talents could create our own costumes, OR, even make our own awesome threads!

Why have built-in music changing? Okay, this is what you do, YOU CAN EVEN DO THIS IN SSBM

Step 1: go to sound options and turn music all the way off
Step 2: listen to music of choice via radio, mp3 player, etc.
Step 3: ????
Step 4: Profit!

I was actually thinking that idea for online play. I mean, yeah, you'd have to deal with some crappy music, but you could always turn your sound off, but some people have some awesome music, so your epic duelz could be even more epic.

How many times can I use the word epic in a paragraph!?

As a 360 owner, I must say that microphones or any way of hearing the person on the other side SERIOUSLY BRINGS DOWN THE GAME. For every time you hear something useful like "Look out! Behind you" There's a billion "YOU GUYS R **** NUBZ IM A LEET HAXXXOR!!", or, worse, 13 year olds who think they're hardcore and edgey because they can say the N-word 100 times. I can't bring myself to play online games that don't allow me to turn off voices.

For every good song, there'd be 100 Linkin Parks or Fall Out Boys, so I'd have to say "no" to that idea. It would be cool if the Internet wasn't filled with idiots.

This doesn't really make sense. Any premade alternate costumes are obviously going to be more professionally done than what someone can do with the limited interface they'd be given on a game disc.

Well, first we're assuming we'll be givin alt costumes (which I wholly support)

But what I'm trying to say is that if the costume doesn't exist, and someone wants to play with that costume, this gives them kind of a chance to play with that costume, even if it isn't in the game.

and I know, no matter how good you are, the proffesionally made ones would be waaay better, but this is so some people could play with their fav character/costume.

I just think the obviously inferior graphics that would result would detract from the experience.

Building stages and sharing with friends would literally be a dream come true. but unfortunately i doubt it will happen. the other ideas have pretty good chances though.:)

My thoughts......

Nice, but I segest it as a special melee

No. This is way to much programming for something so stupid. i say, just allow Barrles, Boxes, and Casples to be turned off.

The options on characters. Change your outfit to look how you want it! Want to see FD grace the screen? Change Link's colors to what YOU want them to be. Want a skeletal Bowser rocking the stage? Change the colors!
Not needed, Waste of space

Moves! Maybe you could change a move to be faster, but weaker, or slower but stronger! Each character could have hundreds of different "builds!"
Maybe for a single player mode, but, again, not needed. Not wanted either

Music! Upload your tunes and play some epic duelz with some major kick *** tunes in the back ground!
Would be cool. Excite Trucks does it

Stages! Create your own stages! Want to make a flat boring level? GO ahead! Want to fill the screen with enough chaos to send even the most skilled player into a tailspin? Blaze forth and do so!
Cool, but a bit of a waste of space.

In the worlds of the Nostalgia Critic...

"Holy ****, that'd actually be really cool....but highly improbable!"

The thought of playing a huge stage but with that trippy background stuff Final Destination does with 30% gravity while fighting 3 skeletal bowser with Fierce Diety Link while effin' Death Note music pumps through the background...

...I could die happy if I ever got to experience that scenario.

Hell, playin' SSBB at ALL with Death Note music in the background...

That's just good stuff.

Thanks. I know these options aren't nessicary (SmashChu) but they are fun ideas that could further add fun to Brawl. It's going to be a freakin awesome game as it is, but this would just add more fun, especially for those of us who play casually.

Custimzation FTW!!!

Um... yeah... seriously I don't want to be forced to listen to other's crappy music tastes.

Then again we could just turn down the volume if the song was crappy.

lol people would customize their online matches with like simple plan and hilary duff just to piss people off, I can see it now.

Music customization Im against, just put on your own tunes. Stage design would be too epic, but seems impractical..

I like the item spawn thing, could maybe get some item tourneys going, who knows.

Im against the character design thing....

But the ability to dress up your character (skeletal bowser lmao) would be too sick.

I imagine that host would choose music, and if you dislike his tastes, you simply go "SCREW YOU D:<" and find another game.

That said, anyone who plays SSBB with Linkin Park (pre-MtM anyway) or Simple Plan shouldn't be allowed to breed anyway.

Well, that's just my counter point. I do think Low-G and High-G mode need to be in there. That would be fun.

the character modification is a bit much and would slightly disappoint me but the rest of it sounds like a great way to customize certain game modes in special situations [although i would usually use the default]

The customizing characters colors wouldn't be too hard. Just have 2-3 'areas' per character that you can then customize by setting them as colors from a list/wheel/palette/whatever.

Take, for example, Yoshi. You could have a main skin color, a spike color, and a boot color; set them as black, white, and red, and the game updates your custom Yoshi accordingly. Save it to your name, and your name to your Wiimote, and then you're ready to play as -your- Yoshi wherever you go :D I don't know much about programming but I'm pretty sure this would be easy to do without taking up much space on the disk (it's just adding the ability to change some color values on some preset polygons, right?).

Making new, alternate costumes, on the other hand, is a bit more infeasible.

Edit: Also, custom colors is one of my most wanted features. Gothic Zelda, Bowser with a hot pink shell and blue hair, etc. Too good.

Nice ideas!

For the whole music thing, maybe you could have two options. One, you can listen to the music of the game's "host" If that player has crappy music, you can choose option two, which is to ignore his music and use your own.

Low G mode would kick so much arse....

Stage design wouldn't be too hard, I mean, hell, for those of you who who play Timesplitters, creating levels isn't all that hard, so stages could be a cinch!

For coloring, I would like to have one or two things. One, maybe a few unlockable "accessories" to add to your characters. For instance, you could add Magic Armor to Link or Tanooki ears for mario or ect. Two, I'd like for there to be a good number of sections to "color" if that option is feesible.
