Is this really a discussion? Tilts make up a good quarter or 5th of a character's toolbox... why -wouldnt- you use them?

Olimar. Is there any character that could actually get away with and manage without using ANY tilts in any smash game on a competitive level? Even if there was I would imagine you would still want to consider learning tilts to increase your options.
Snake's side tilt and up tilt.Is there any character that could actually get away with and manage without using ANY tilts in any smash game on a competitive level? Even if there was I would imagine you would still want to consider learning tilts to increase your options.
The only comment i have completely agreed with.I think tilts, along with all other attacks, are totally useless and Smash should only be played to see who can SD the fastest.
Took the words right out my mouth .Olimar.
I am not particularly Brawl savvy, but I thought Snake's utilt was pretty deadly.Snake's side tilt and up tilt.
Well, there are some people who apparently don't know that the A button exists, so....Is this really a discussion? Tilts make up a good quarter or 5th of a character's toolbox... why -wouldnt- you use them?
Yes, his up-tilt is great. One of my favorites.I am not particularly Brawl savvy, but I thought Snake's utilt was pretty deadly.
Snake has the best Utilt in the game. His Utilt is like the god of Utilts. Hell, Snake is the god of Tilts if anything.I am not particularly Brawl savvy, but I thought Snake's utilt was pretty deadly.
Man, that's an awesome idea. If Smash attacks were their own button. But would their be a new Neutral Smash attack? Think of the possibilities man.I have difficulty in general as tilt inputs practically go against every fighting game input I've done in the last five years. The use of an analog input for attacks does not completely jive with me as in the heat of battle, I'm more inclined to use "hard" inputs that would give me Smash attacks instead of Tilts.
I would actually really like it if Smash attacks are moved to one of the jump buttons so analog inputs are not required for attacks. I mean, it wouldn't be THAT much different from the C-Stick.
I think Tilts, as an input, was done because of the N64 controller. That control stick was harder to move in comparison to later controllers from Nintendo. Also, there were only two action buttons at the time, the A and B so it was indeed efficient given the limited button options. That being said, I think that's something that's not really necessary, but it would be a fine option.
The only comment i have completely agreed with.
**** all those melee, 64, and brawl elitists with their needlessly complicated "Smashes" and "specials". They're manipulating the game away from what it's meant to be played as, All items on big blue free for all super sudden death mega mushroom metal low gravity slow motion spicy curry 99 stock SD race!
Of course he does. It's just a long going joke that Olimar's playstyle is point C-stick towards the opponent. Also, even Olimar does have some real use for his tilts; none of them are core to his gameplay, but they do things that his other moves don't so there are situations in which they are the right options.
I'm gonna try that next time my friend comes over. You know, when I was little, me and my cousing used to play SD races with different rules as "mini-games".
I think one of the most fun mini-games was the following:
Rules:
You can only SD on the opposite side of the stage from which you spawned.
You win a point for every successful SD.
If you are touched by the opponent with any move before you SD, that stock does not grant you any points. (Projectiles that weren't Fox's laser count toward this rule, also the opponent could jump off the stage with you and SD, his whole goal is only to touch you before you die, even if that means dying with you right after).
Then we would do 10 stock matches with those rules. One match I would SD all 10, then we would play another match where he SD all 10.
