To those worried about the speed in the second trailer

If you pay attention, people in the first trailer fall down at the same speed as they do in the second trailer. The ground combat also moves at the same speed. Nobody complained about the speed in the original trailer, and I believe that the reason why it seemed slow in the second trailer was because they wanted to show each character's moves in more detail, and they couldn't do that if the trailer went too fast. And of course, it will play much faster once professionals learn it. In conclusion, I don't think that we need to worry about the speed of this game.

Behind you.
Also, to add to the first post, the gameplay footage shown from Melee before it was released was also very very slow.

Check out IGN if you doubt me, but I'm not going to dig up any vids.

the melee trailer looks slow as ***, and its the fastest fighting game ever made pretty much. You cant really tell anything, and even paranoid ''omg what if brawl sucks'' people like myself can live with that >.>

I don't think there's too much difference in the speeds. And if there's any difference, it won't be as drastic as some people say.
But if brawl's speed is way slower, it won't even matter, because people will definitively play it anyways.

It's probably slowed down, so It will be much faster when it comes out. A video can never really capture the true speed.....

The reason why a lot of people are scared aren't because of the trailer but because if Sakurai's cryptic comment that the gameplay speed will be "moderated"

The slower speed from the trailer does show "moderation".
And he meant that in regards to aerial combat (according the the translator Samurai Panda), and it shows. People fall down at a much slower rate.

Um, just pointing out...

That Melee trailer that was linked to IS Melee speed. The players just aren't pressing the buttons super lightning-fast like the pros do it.

The only change in speed in the gameplay of the Melee trailer is when they're demonstrating specific moves. The actual gameplay footage is the same speed.

Ya, a lot of the stages went through changes from the announcement up until the release. For example, Yoshi's Story was bigger and had different quirks, you could go inside the Great Bay's lab, there was an extra platform in Hyrule Temple, pipes in Mushroom Kingdom etc.
