When things were still early in brawl's life, the thing to do was to use Lucas's dair.

Seem like alot of people are saying to "don't use it" and "you cheat yourself using it'.

I'd like to know why you shouldn't use it as a sh approach?

And when should u use it then?

you SHOULD use the dair
you should NOT SH with it.
dair won't finish in a short hop.
you don't get the best effects out of it's hitbox that way
AND you land with lag.
dair is great as a full hop approach.
at high %'s, it can even lead to a spike + bat kill, which is nice.

IMO nair is still the better approach
but that CERTAINLY doesn't mean not to use the dair at all :)

edit: make sure you space it well though and land far enough away if your opponent is shielding.
or you WILL get grabbed.

full hop fast fall Dair is one of Lucas's best approaches. It's much safer than SH Nair and leads into jab combo, SHFF Nair, Ftilt, Utilt, SHFF Uair, SH Fair, Dsmash, Usmash, Dtilt, or Fsmash all depending on percentage, which hits of the Dair connect, and character. Watch out for opponents who can tech it because some of the afore mentioned options will not work if they learn how to.

SH d-air lags you stupidly hard.
FH d-air sometimes causes your opponent to belly flop, giving you a free attack (sometimes). Bonus.

u cant always n-air or always d-air u should mix it up also its good to know exactly when to try the jab lock out of d-air spike> missed tech
