Tips on tournament stamina?

My biggest issue in tournament is poor stamina. After playing a really high level player, as soon as the adrenaline dies down, my hands are shaky.

When I play my next match, I'll flub basic tech skill and then get tunnel vision to reproduce the situation. I've been getting better at the latter bit but the flubbing tech skill and suiciding is a common thing on my next match after playing someone good.

I'll frequently do things like beat a really good player (say, #2 on our PR) and then lose to a much lower ranked one, for example, or win by a much lower margin than I should have.

I've been trying to get up and leave for a little bit between matches occasionally.

I am very caffeine sensitive, so red bull and the like is out of the question- even a Mountain Dew leaves my hands shaking.

Anyone out there have tips for stamina/post adrenaline hand shaking? Certain foods, mindsets, types of breaks, vitamins?

Personally, a break consisting of a soda (or drink of your choice) and a brief stroll around the room/area typically helps. That said, I'm not good enough to expect to go far in tournaments, so after a particularly hard win, I'm typically pretty content just to have beaten a good player. As long as you have a few minutes, just roam around and chill out in the way that works best for you.

That happened to me the last time I went somewhere. Got way too frustrated and it prevented me from making any sort of adaptation.

As somebody who suffers from mild anxiety, I recommend this:

UCLA Mindful Awareness

These audios are great for dealing with anxiety. If you could incorporate this mindset into your daily thinking and apply it to smash, you could possibly remedy your stamina issue.

to deal with stress and anxiety at uil speech stuff in middle/high school i learned quick meditation tricks and that seems to help a bit with between match jitteriness, to an extent.

basically, i learned to quickly clear my mind (more zen style meditation, i guess?) and focus more on my breathing and heart beat to try and slow them down and calm myself.

but, no matter what you do, you're going to have tourney nerves until you just play them out of your system. you might just have to grind it out to get used to it and not be too worked up during and after. if you have cash to spare, maybe chain money matches against people, so you can get used to a higher stressload?

Walk around (outside if possible), play an easygoing friendly as a warm-down, listen to some chill music.
