tips on how to beat an Ike?

For all the time I've been playing Brawl there's been this one player, the only player mind you, who I simply cannot beat... This guy is really fast with ike and can counter almost every arial attempt from the ground with his up Smash. The only way I get in Arials is fireball short hop.

Basically, this guy is good and his wi-fi record (with mostly IKE) is crazy.
142 wins 17 losses

He loves using A+A+A , is very good at canceling, grabbing, rolling, edge guarding, recovering (but i see to it its not horizontal recoveries cause ill cancel his charged dash with a fireball and down he goes), dash attacking, and ok at juggling.

In short, this guy is a would be pro perhaps and is responsible for 6 out of my 8 losses.



I've tried rolling with a Down smash follow through, fire-punch, grabbing, edge guarding, and of course the arial game... But nothing seems to work against this guy. He's too rock solid.

Any tips to exploit the built in weaknesses of Ike using Luigi?

What I'm looking for most are ways to get past his Up and Side Smashes so I can actually hurt him when I try to arial.

Other tips in general to beat Ike are greatly apreciated

try more jabs. Luigi is a natural counter to Ike. What you need to do is take your time, spam fireballs and when he goes aerial, **** him there.

the thing is, he doesnt go arial much. He will try to shorthop meteor smash sometimes and it hits every now and then.

If i try to run, roll, attack/grab, he out-manuvers me, grabs, and side A on the downbeat.

Is the solution here to simply fireball spam and then smash or arial when the damage meter gets high?

It's the best choice. Ike's play patiently, as in, they don't move unless you do. Just keep spamming until he goes in for the kill. That's your time to strike. Get a couple hits in, Get the hell out, and continue spamming.

dont down right apporach ike he will wreck you.

also watchout for a well spaced Fair into a jab combo its pretty annoying

Keep your distance, trick the Ike into attacking, as soon as he does, rush in and punish. His smashes take forever to finish, which gives u time to get in your own smashes/Up B. Hog the edge once he's off to force him over and on the stage. Once he does, hop back on and punish.

Shieldgrab him, and use dsmash. Ikes pretty slow and predictable, so if you dodge one of his smashes, he'll be lag punished

You could try fireball spamming, and quick aerials. Every Ike player I know complains about his slow aerials. And Luigi's fAIR is VERY quick!
