In the case of Soul Blazer, the people here didn't quite stoop down to the level of returning the petty insults and personal attacks at him. Over there, it was pretty much open season, with **** being flung in all directions - it was going to get worse before it got better, if something wasn't done.

With Soul Blazer no one really returned the insults, and a bunch of mods and the admin came here quickly enough to sweep him.

There was no need to start a flame war with a statement that seemed like it was intended to personally harm individuals, but it also was very unnecessary for everyone to go out of hand to insult the initiator such that it went out of hand. Locking the thread was the best choice at that time IMO.

Mistakes were made, and people paid the price. The past is now the past. People who were involved in the more serious parts of the commotion got infractions and that was that.
