I know. :p
I love playing mind games with Thoron. It's just hilarious to see someone predict a Thoron, only for it not to come out.
Robin can put the pressure on the opponent with strategy and exploiting patterns and weaknesses. Sometimes, it's just a bit harder for some characters like Captain Falcon and maybe even King Dedede.
Well, you not wrong about Robin have some hard match ups. If either his speed, grab or possible even kill power was buffed, I think he might have an easier time.

because I have seen how scary it is

I dun wanna be assaulted for no reason/a silly reason

And I dun even play Link
Yeah, I know what you mean. When I first went there, I was absolutely not prepared for there trolling. It took me a while to finally get used to it, though it didn't help that I was raining Gay for a while (note: In the Link boards, the decide to swap around Gay and Toon Link, meaning Gay=Toon Link and Toon Link=Gay)

Though once you get past their aggressive exterior of flaming and trolling, they are actually quite nice people.

They're like onions. You got to peel them back one layer at a time.

Yeah Pro Tip:

Always take a buddy when you go on a field trip to the Lonk Boards.
This^. Really good advice here.

Hey Soulless, how come I don't see you in the Link threads?

If by blue, you mean my blue complexion from lab after lab after lab and presentations back to back these past few weeks, then yes, I'm well into that Blue run. I'm in the academic equivalent of fighting Level 31 Dugtrio in Diglett Cave with nothing but a Pikachu.

I'll get to the Blue run by Friday don't worry
I was just curious, I know studies are a bigger priority and can be quite time consuming

you could say it's dangerous to go alone boo

Go on. :4dedede:

Details, please.
I was doing pretty well until I couldn't rely on match-up inexperience any longer so then it went downhill. :4dedede:

Then I started using Rosalina & Chiko and got utterly trashed but you know I was expecting that. :4dedede:

I only go to the boards for AT and metagame discussion.

If there isn't much in the way of developments for Link's meta than I don't particularly have a reason to frequent those boards.

I'm one of those weird people that contributes to the knowledge/strategy of Link but isn't a regular.

I popped in and somehow was spared all the hazing and stuff.

Nope, that's all for the day. Now I'll just quietly retreat back to the shadows, where no one can find me.

Got a crap ton of replays queued up for upload, so while I'm listening to a vid, I'll write things about Dedede.

So, I lost the first.....5 or 6 games, I think, just figuring out how Gordos work, what Dedede has that is and isn't safe, and deciding which customs are the best choice against Dedede. After I got a handle on the match-up, I won the lion's share of the games. (Maybe 80% after I settled into the matchup pace)

Settled on 3111. I tried Fire Wall in a few games (since it makes reflecting Gordos hilariously easy), but found that Arcfire was simply too good against D3 in the long run.

Speed Thunder, when not staled, can bounce back a Gordo with even its lowest version (Fresh Thunder does 2%), and extremely easily with Elthunder (5%) or simply clearing the whole screen with Thoron. Dedede basically cannot camp you when you're running Speed Thunder. Arcfire only bounces on the final hit, so you need to close the gap and aim to trade, if you're going to use it to combat Gordos.

After messing around with a ton of different interactions, and trying varying degrees of aggression, I came to the answer. Dedede cannot deal with the camp game. Robin has ridiculously strong horizontal space control against him, between the Thunder variants and Arcfire. Arcfire in particular completely shuts him down. His main way of actually closing distance against people is to run in, powershield, and then do something. That outright just doesn't work against Arcfire, and he doesn't run fast enough to slide through it like some characters can.

You can literally just chuck plasma at him, and if he jumps to try to get over it, you jump up and Fair him. He simply cannot challenge it at all, since his Fair swings overhead and his Nair doesn't have any disjoint.

That's literally all you need to do in neutral. I messed around with using SH Nair some, but Dedede can punish with F-tilt OoS even if perfectly spaced, so it's actually not particularly useful in this MU.

Once you have Dedede on the ledge, you just put Arcfire on the ledge and there's literally nothing he can seemingly do about it. He can't jump AROUND it, he's too large to use a normal get-up or ledge-jump, and you can cover the roll with relative ease. Rinse and repeat, there's almost nothing he can do about it.

On the flipside, if Dedede does get Robin offstage, he does have the reach to prevent Robin from defending herself with Fair as easily. Shrooby worked some nasty Gordo -> Fair options selects that took a bit to work out. The end conclusion I came to was to recover low, from below the ledge. Dedede has to telegraph pretty hard if he's going to try to Bair you, because of his slow movement and startup on Bair.

Being above Dedede on-stage is also not particularly threatening. His Uair is slow to start-up, so you can just react to him trying to juggle you with Elwind, and float to safety. Or just float to safety, if he doesn't challenge. As soon as you get to his horizontal level just Arcfire and you're safe.

That's.... about all I really have to say. I'd say it's probably +1 Robin, maaaaaybe +2. Realistically, +1. Little closer without customs, since you can't camp him nearly as easily, but Arcfire still does hella work.

I'll link the session (1hr40mins) once it finishes uploading.

Basically from Dedede's perspective Arcfire the most inconvinient projectile in the game.

I just fought a good :4dedede: in For Glory, and while I did lose the first match, I started winning it out once I figured out his strategy and started to chuck his gordos back at him. You just want him as far away from you as possible. :4robinf:

Of course, I would rather just show 'em the power of radiance if you know what I mean. :4myfriends:

So one of my friends likes to joke/give me crap that Robin's LS Up air has so much range. I was watching an older replay when even I was surprised that this up air connected.

(I was using my 2nd jump and did Up air at the start of it)

In this edition I type words all night and see how many times my thoughts get :4greninja:'d.

Oh, and I reply to everyone at once.

And I also spoiler it because it's big enough to beat a man to death with.
Nah, not really interested in them. I'll probably pick the game itself up, but I can take or leave the amiibos.
I think I might want the amiibos as much or more than the game itself. Of course my opinion will probably reverse when I play, but they look solid.

Speaking of amiibo, Greninja messed up my morning plans, so don't mind if I spam you with replays tonight. It's already hit my posting limit, and we ain't even gotten to what I think are the good ones, or any of the ones from tonight.

...honestly, I need to invest in a capture card. You got any recommendations?

Robin has become one of my mains~<3
Welcome aboard, homie.

I'm the resident refugee and night crew. Pleasure meeting you, enjoy your stay.
Yes, yes, it's morning now, but it wasn't when I started typing this.

For those that don't get it, Laura Bailey did one of the female voices for the avatar character in Saint's Row: The Third.
I love this so much I might actually dust off my copy of Saint's Row for it.

If modding Sm4sh ever becomes a thing, this is the very first thing I wan-
I would play as Lucina more if she had these voice clips.

I guess we'll wait for the modding community to do that.

Rule 63.

Warning, if you click deeper into links on that page, I'm not responsible for what you find. The landing page is safe, though.
Well then.

In fact I have so many Rule 63 replies they get a whole damn section. I'll spoiler it too, which is oddly appropriate after an Inception reference.

First, a thought.

Truth told, there are a whole plethora of creative designs in the examples, including, startlingly, some of the most well-done Sonic OC I've ever seen. Which I will not post. Ever. But it is there.

I think my particular favorite has to be this design though:

I'm taking notes.

Dammit first I discover traps and now this? My straightness is in danger.
The internet holds many wonders.

Since I already know I would hit F!Link like the hammer of Thor, I thought I'd find something for the ladies. Fair's fair.

Honestly, its my favorite rule of the internet. I just love the concept. Rule 34 can go to hell, though.
What about Rule 34 of Rule 63?

You gotta admit that takes a certain kind of imagination.

Doesn't look bad.
Damn. No, really doesn't.

Real talk minute - I would've taken top pic over CIa in Hyrule Warriors in a heartbeat. And I'm actually fond of Cia.

Wow, by looking at the Rule 63 link it seems that Rule 34 is more popular than Rule 63. D:
Rule 63 is best rule.
Of course it is. For better or worse, on the internet, porn is king.

I'll write things about Dedede.

Hell of a write-up, though.

But how can you really do that with Robin? He is a zoner, not a rush down character.

Honestly, Dedede gives me some trouble as well, even with Luigi. Maybe I should go for Falcon in this fight... perhaps a pocket Little Mac as well.
So you need good mobility, good rushdown, maybe a little somethin somethin that'll poke him in his comfort zoning.

You remember that pocket Pika you wanted? Now would be the time.

Sometimes I feel like no one can talk about @ Nairo Nairo without him finding out about it. Like one day I'll talk about him the Swordspider boards without tagging him and he'll still know.
Nairo is always watching.
Lurking.
Learning.
If you post about him, he will feel obligated to post.
Be careful of Nairo.

It's called namesearching, Antonykun.

I do it too.
Or that too.

If Capcom gets a second rep, I want SEGA to get a second rep. Let's NiGHTS it up in here.
NiGHTS would be cool.
Though, I wouldn't mind a second Sonic character like Tails or Knuckles.

Well, you not wrong about Robin have some hard match ups. If either his speed, grab or possible even kill power was buffed, I think he might have an easier time.
I don't mind his speed or kill power so much; the zoning compensates for his lack of speed and he has some decent kill move set ups.
I would buff his grab, though. That crap can take forever if you miss.

So you need good mobility, good rushdown, maybe a little somethin somethin that'll poke him in his comfort zoning.

You remember that pocket Pika you wanted? Now would be the time.
Good point. Pikachu is pretty fast to the point where he could pressure Dedede...
And Pikachu's neutral B is amazing against him I believe...
I'll try some rounds with him in For Glory when I get home from school. I want to see if I am at least adequate with Pikachu.

It's been a bit since I dealt with a good Dedede, but I recall a few bits.

Tjolt reflects Gordos if I recall correctly. You can use QA to get on top of him faster than he likes, but if he's expecting it (i.e. you rely to much on it) you're liable to eat hammer if you land in range. Bait, and punish every whiff you can. Especially respect his nair.

Honestly I'd be more interested to see @ shrooby shrooby 's thoughts on the Pika matchup. I feel like he'll be a better source.

If you need some additional practice I'll be available as soon as I'm awake. However I advise you to take everything I do with a grain of salt; I'm still unsure about my skill levels per se.

No offence, but I personally find it really inconvenient to be brought here from somewhere else to see a one-liner reply to a thread I made a day ago...
None taken, man. I get that. This time I got you two lines, and it's much more timely.

I expect basically everyone's reaction to that monstrosity to be roughly the same, hence the "never again" clause.

Yo Robin player. I really dig the yellow costume of Robin, but I don't like the female design at all. Is there a way to play the male version with a Yellow alt?

Also Robin is my fourth best character for some reason. (Charizard->Meta Knight -> Samus -> Robin)

Welcome! Sadly there isn't a way to play a male/female variant of every color. But of course Little Mac is an exception for whatever reason because wire frame Mac.

Please Understand.

Been there checked that.

One mention of Pika as "similar to Sonic." I can see the bthrow and rushdown similarities, and possibly predictable recovery for edgeguarding, but other than that...I don't know what kind of Pikas y'all been facing, but we ain't Sonics.

Dropped a post posing the question, though. Thank you.
Pikachu compared to Sonic?
