So.....

do you guys actually now how to beat the third gym leader in sapphire with teccko (not pre evolved), also I never got far in pearl/dimond, only like just past the 3rd with emporino

Also @ Fire Tactician Fire Tactician

XD

Hmm... using Treecko is pretty hard against Wattson... you may want to consider doubling back to get a Makuhita (since some of his Steel Pokemon are weak to Fighting) or a Geodude (they're all weak to Ground). You can find both in Dewford Cave. However, I never needed to do so, and I can't remember why not but I do remember him being challenging... Oh, yeah, I used a Mudkip (well Marshtomp) in most of my Hoenn playthroughs.

edit: Welp, :4greninja:'d a bit.

edit 2: Oh, it's Wattson, not Watson... that's actually pretty funny.

Genius Chrom.

Can you imagine what would have happened if Chrom was just fighting a regular battle against brigands and someone hit his shield and one of the Gemstones just fell off unnoticed?

Fun fact (that I think that I've already said in this thread but whatever): While Chrom's Great Lord shield is the Fire Emblem, Lucina's Great Lord shield is based off the mask that she wore as "Marth."

Good thing Robin had the Gemstones swapped before he/she was forced to steal it.

...

How DID Robin manage to get Basilio to swap the stones out anyway? That thing must have been HEAVILY guarded thanks to the Plegian spies being everywhere regardless if Basilio was a carcass or not.

Isn't Roselia a grass type? It seems pointless to level it up seening as I will be using Treecko as my grass type also isn't the only way to get a geodude at that point to use rock smash on rocks which you can only do AFTER you have beaten the third gym leader? Plus isn't grass not very effective against steel types. I have try teaching Treecko (Grovyle to be precise) rock smash but I'm not sure if it is work very well, thoughts?
Yo man, look at the attitude in this guys face.

He's a bad MOFO. You just gotta believe in him, and he'll get it done.
On a side note, does anybody else nickname their pokemon? My Treecko is named Sawamura. He's a shiny and he's awesome and special and I love him. I'm going to use him as my starter for ORAS.

*clears throat*
Sorry, when I start talking about pokemon I revert to my 8 year old self again.

Thank's for the advice guys, you all really are great (Tacticians). I will restart (maybe) and put them all into motion straight away

Anyway, have any of you been able to play as:4tlink: Because I really want to know how he has changed form Brawl (apart for his Dair not having the pogo effect). Also, do you guys know how Tink's fire arrows compare to :younglinkmelee:'s aside for Project m's damage effect when sticking into the ground. Sorry, I am just curious about the little hero of Winds, cause it seems that :4link: has 'Tipped the Scales' from their brawl forms

"Sir, this person is dead. Should we keep an eye on him?" Said a random soldier.

"I do have a thing for dead people but these alive people are a bigger concern. Let's not pay attention to him at all." Said Validar.

I don't have much experience with Toon Link since he's my brother's main and I just let him use him, but I have toyed around with the Fire Arrow. It has a really odd curve, kinda like Arcfire, and doesn't fly far but explodes in impact. It's an odd move, but I like it.

I took that comic as a joke, mainly because it was. :v

Chrom may use it as a shield, but Frederick, Robin, Lucina, Tiki, and Flavia wouldn't dare leave that Fire Emblem out of their sight.

Chrom's logic was probably around the lines of this:

"Where's the safest place for the greatest treasure in the world? Surrounded by a brilliant tactician and the army of super-soldiers that he personally bred!"

That's actually pretty sound if you think about it that way.

My issue with the Fire Emblem is that it should of had some added abilities. Like, after when you collect one Gemstone, Chrom would gain a new power. The Fire Emblem is mainly a plot device and it was a bit of a letdown that it was only that.
That also extends to the Falchion. They could have given it something when it becomes the Exalted Falchion, maybe like a shockwave or something.

This, along with his (in my opinion) boring personality, made Chrom a very bland character in my eyes.

Chrom uses the Fire Emblem as a shield because it's a such a stupid idea, no one would ever think he's using the actual one. It's such a stupid idea, it's brilliant.

Sorry, when I start talking about pokemon I revert to my 8 year old self again.

...this ended up being longer than I thought it would be...

I'll nickname my Pokemon unless I really like the Pokemon and their default name.
I didn't nickname my Mawile or Cradily, for example.

Other than that, I just like to make myself laugh with little quirks.
For example, when I played through Crystal Version a few months before HGSS released, I used an Ariados just because.
I named the Ariados "Ninja."
When I played through Soul Silver, I used a Crobat and named it "Ninja #2."
I will forever continue this trend. My collection of ninjas include...
Scolipede - Ninja #3
Muk - Ninja #4
Ninjask - Ninja #5
Shedinja - Ninja #5.5
Seviper - Nninja (The double consonant being a reference to an inside joke. And "#" is not an available character in Gen3)

Picking the new Ninja has become the hardest choice in my playthroughs. I've made it a rule for myself that they must either be bug or poison-types in memory of the original Ninja.

On top of this, I've also made a theme of including a nickname reference to Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged.
In the same Soul Silver playthrough with Ninja #2, I named my Feraligatr "Florence" and my Magmortar "Melvin."
In my White playthrough I named my Cofagrigus "Zorc."
In my Japanese White 2 playthrough I named my Golurk "Shadi."
In my Black 2 playthrough I named my Electivire "Malik." (His full name is unofficially "Malik Blishtar. No relation to Marik Ishtar.")
And in my Y playthrough I named my Dragalge "Hobson."
REFERENCE JOKES ARE HILARIOUS
I hope at least one of you here watches Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged...

Another funny one I did was for my playthrough of my Japanese copy of Black. Since I was limited in character count for nicknames, I went with a theme that would allow for short nicknames: Morshu quotes.
Morshu being the fat shopkeeper from the terrible Zelda CDi cutscenes...
"Lamp oil, rope, bombs, you want it? It's yours, my friend, as long as you have enough rupees."
"Sorry, Link, I can't give credit. Come back when you're a little... mmm... richer!"

So...
Emboar - MRSHU
Galvantula - MMM
Seismitoad - BOMBS
Sigilyph - ROPE
Hydreigon - RICHR
Metagross - LAMP
I also caught Tornadus, named it "RUPEE" and used it in my playthrough with Zorc and Ninja #3.

Other amusing nicknames I've done...

My Braviary named DavidBowie. (Which is actually meant to be more of a reference to the "Naruto Comedy Fandub Spoof Series Show" than it is to the actual singer.)

On one team I had my Samurott named "Craig" and Druddigon named "Eric," which is a reference to Drake and Josh.

Staraptor named "Toast." (I don't even know.)

Regirock named "RRREGIROCK." (Reference to this.)

A Garchomp named "Garchomp." You may be thinking "wat?" Well, in every game before Gen5, Pokemon names would be in all caps. I didn't want that for my Garchomp for some reason, so I had to "nickname" it "Garchomp." So, while "Garchomp" was a Gible and a Gabite, his name was "Garchomp."

Gabite was always my favorite of the three. I'm really not a huge Garchomp fan.

I don't nickname my Pokemon unless a friend requests it.

Only exception is Remoraid, because of course I'm going to name the revolver fish Ruger or Wesson or Magnum.

I nicknamed my Scizor Julius and I'm still very proud of that.
My Scizor is named Jarngreipr.

She's part of a team of Steel types that include:

Mjolnir, my Metagross.
Megingjord, my Mawile.

I don't use nicknames often, but when I do, I frequently pull from mythological or literary sources.

I always give my Pokemon names. To me it gives them an identity. A name helps define the shape, the soul, and the very fabric of each thing because giving a name means to give someone/something a sense of self. Yes I get attached to such sappy things.

Groudon: Hephaestus
Kyogre: Poseidon
Rayquaza: Zeus Draco
Dialga: Time Draco
Palkia: Space Drak
Giratina: Sol-Luna
Mewtwo: Omega Psi
Alakazam: Wise One
Scizor: Iron Claws
Shiny Tyranitar with perfect IVs: Tyrant
Shiftry: Shogun
Zoroark: Tricky
Lucarios: Aura Anubis and Jackal
Darmanitan: Buddha (Zen mode reference)

Just a few. I often pull mythological and literary sources similar to the other poster above my comment. I'm a massive history and mythology nerd.

I don't particularly like Garchomp... and I basicly love all the other Dragon types.
It's stupidly overpowered and totally steals Flygon's show by having the same typing... and I like Flygon's design a lot more.

This:

is Awesome.
Yes, it is.
There was one similiar picture I once saw of Kyogre that kinda creeped me out cause I was searching for something entirely unrelated. It had a really good "if you see this while deep sea diving you're screwed" vibe.

I rarely give my Pokemon nicknames. I did it for gen 5 and named my team after dragons of ancient history. I wasn't really feeling it :4shulk: though, so I stopped doing it.

I think their names where:
Charizard: Tiamat
Haxerous: Azdahag
Kingdra: Leviathan
Dragonite: Bahamut
... I can't remember the other two I had in my team for the life of me, neither the names, nor the species.
huh. :substitute:

Primal Kyogre trumps that in scariness. It's a freaking leviathan and its size makes it comparable to Wailord for biggest Pokemon.

Wait...Kyogre actually grows even bigger?
It's surprisingly small in its regular form.

Kyogre- 14'09" (Only about the size of two basketball players on each other's shoulders).

Primal Kyogre- 32'01" (Double that)

Wailord- 47'07" (just over 3.2 times larger than Kyogre)

Nah, not this one, but this one isn't bad either. The one I'm talking about looks closer to the original Kyogre, but has like multiple rows of teeth. And IIRC the whole image is pretty dark and gloomy to pull off the deep sea look.

Normal Kyogre is no more than a beefy dolphin.

Primal Kyogre is a freaking monster.

and groudon is the size of a basketball hoop lmao
