Tilt vs. Smash Side-B

It seems to me that a smashed side-B goes further than a tilted side-B, the difference being about the horizontal gap between the platforms on Dreamland. Is this known or does this perchance only apply to the European version (aka PAL)?

Some observations:
No charge:
- The smashed side-B goes ~32.4% further.
- Tilt: 5% - Smash: 9%
Fully charged:
- The length and charge duration is the same.
- Tilt: 26% - Smash: 26%

I'd conjecture that the smash just skips some of the charging.

Given the game's age i would be very surprised if this has not been noticed...

Does this work with charged side b? Is there any difference to smash charging versus tilt charging?

For partial charges the effects are hard to determine, with an emulator you could get equal charge times to compare it. (May look into this if i can get it set up...)

Fully charged they seem to be the same length again.

This is actually funny! When i was at Crossfire II, OTG told me about this!

He told me that smashing the direction has more potential that just a tilt

That's quite impressive. I assume that this translates over to an aerial side-b. Thanks for the find! #YearofLuigi

It really helps the multiple no-charge recoveries. Though you have to learn the proper timing of when you can start the next missile as you can not simply hold to the side and mash B.
