So where does Greninja currently belong now and where can he go from here?

He's a great character, definitely high tier, but has a few matchups that hold him back from being solo-main viable. He really struggles against shiek because she has a better neutral all around, and we can't really just rage-jank her like some characters can. I believe think Greninja is a great pick and very viable, but you'll probably want a secondary to cover bad matchups (Lucario in particular pairs well, but his style is so different from Greninja that switching your mindset might back and forth might take some practice)

This is actually one step down despite strong recent showings from Some and Istudying on the major level, with Istudying being dominant in the European scene getting second and 4th at the past 2 BEAST tournaments and Some making huge statements at Frostbite 2017 and beating the likes of Abadango, Umeki, Wadi, Fatality, Captain Zack, and KEN, as well as Elaxiao and Waveguider being 1st place in France and Australia respectively. The reason for this slight drop is incredible showings by Lucarios such as Tsu bringing him in front of Greninja as well as Peach coming up and surpassing greninja due to strong players such as Samsora and Umeki making strong placings.
