its just a kick in the guts to know that there is nothing you can do to win in some matches...
u know like no matter how fast you move hell move faster, no matter how much damage you rack up he racks up more...
no i havent been to a tourney lately but i am finally startin to realise how far down the scale i am and it frightens me...

im a good player rite and maybe i think im better than i am, but to know that there are millions of peopole who are either just as good or better is a little daunting

Welcome to competitive play. I get my butt handed to me regularly to me. But I accept that they are better than me, and and better for it. Playing people better than you is the best way to progress. They will point out your flaws and punish them until you fix them, and are a constant display of improved play for you to study.

i know this but i also feel that my tech skill cannot get any better...
its up to the rest, which for me is the hardest part cause i ussually just use my tech skill to beat my opponant down, but once it comez down to mindgames, stage presence, move selection...
it just shows how unskilled i am...
fighting someone on the same tech skill level as me but with better mindgamez etc really screwz me ova
any help is appreciated but i think its just up to me to try harder, but i dont know how long it will take me to get better in tyhis aspect

Do what I did. Instead of just watching videos, I made notes as I watched them. I looked for consistencies, certain reactions, movement styles, overall play style, etc. You being to see what is working for people, and ultimately, hope to understand WHY it is working. That is the goal, to know why things work the way they do, not just the how part.

People tend to rely too much on tech skill. However, strong spacing with good tech skill is usually enough to break into competitive play. After that you need to force yourself into good habits, develop a consistent style of play, and remain unpredictable. If you ever need some advice, PM me, or anyone else for that matter.

...the more matches you play and the more opponents you play that are better or very slightly below you, the better you'll get.

Quality of result = quality of resources

In relative terms of Smash: Quality of play ^ if quality of opponents goes ^

I have only played against about 7 people in my life, all of them live in different areas. My tech skill is average, and my mindgames suck balls. Why? Because I haven't played enough people - my mindgames are not good because I do not have a consistent selection of evaluative material. Simple as that. There's no people in your area? Well, you're screwed. If you really want to get good, ask your parents (if you can't drive) to drive you to tournies in your state. I'm lucky enough to live in a city with 2-3 tournies a year, hopefully I'll be able to go to one at least.
