think you'd need to pre-order to assure this game?

I don't think it could hurt, if you want it on the 10th. Personally, I've pre-ordered at my local GameStop, and am picking it up at midnight. It couldn't hurt to have a copy with your name on it while you're getting it.

If you want to assure yourself and sleep soundly at night knowing you'll play brawl the second it hits stores, I'd reserve it. I don't trust Nintendo's ability to keep supply. I stood in line to reserve a Wii just so I could get it on opening day, and I did.

maybe? maybe not?
to be safe I would, but in all reality you probably won't need to. Even Halo 3 wasn't that hard to come by on opening day if you got up early and went to a les traditional place to buy games like wal mart or target or something.

I've got two choices:

a) reserve copy at Gamestop, which is a 15 minute subway train away from my college. This will be better but slightly more dangerous if they confirm a midnight release.
b) Get the first grocery shuttle out to Target and arrive at 10:40.

Which one sounds best?

i believe you dont have to reserve any game because there is no game that has been sold out on opening day, only consoles.

The only reason I'd preorder NOW as opposed to just picking it up would likely be because I have money now but will likely be poor in Feb so I could save money to pay for next fall's housing fee :/

I haven't reserved it and I don't plan to unless I see that there's a high possibility that it will be sold out as soon as the stores open on the 10th. I can just drive up to Gamestop and wait for it to open. Plus, I really don't have the money right now. I have my $50 for Galaxy and that's about it. I should have money by February.

I'd pre-order. Brawl might be sold out before you know it, once it comes out.

Somewhere, most likely existent
I personally doubt it. I had no trouble picking up a copy of Pokemon Diamond on the release date at a single retailer. Brawl may be more wanted, but Nintendo SHOULD supply plenty of copies. Hopefully. *Will probably pre-order just in case*

I'm getting a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that I should have pre-ordered Mario Galaxy. Well, I guess I'll just get there on launch morning.

Well, it's England. It was actually £39.99 (>:l), which is indeed $77.50
Either way, that's still a rip off. I would never pay that much for a pre-order. Even PS3 games don't cost that much.

But anyway, I agree with the above poster. I doubt Nintendo is going to under-produce for Brawl. This is going to be one of the biggest cash cows ever for them. They're not stupid. They'll make enough. If the game gets sold out on the release date then that will be the surprise of the year for me. Nintendo is supposed to send enough copies to the stores to fulfill preorders PLUS extra copies for people that are coming in and buying it on the day. That's how it has always been. If they change it for Brawl then I declare Nintendo an even dumber company than Sony.

Ohh, you don't know England.

<cough>£50 which is $110</cough>
From what I know, if you convert $39.99 euros to american dollars, it equates to about $56 - $58.

50 euros sounds more like $77. I don't live in England but... *shrug*

You should be happy - considering that we Europeans and Australians don't even know when we get the chance to buy the game.

he's talking about the British Pound, not the Euro.

if you can pre-order, just do it. you only have to put down a few bucks.

How is it cheaper?

$5 now + $45 then
versus
$0 now + $50 then

$50 either way.

I don't have to pay any more, don't be stupid

I'm getting it on release exactly, and there's nothing to stop it happening and no
further payments to be made. It paaays to think ahead. No camping outside stores
in the cold for me!!

I'm honestly kind of looking forward camping out waiting for this game...I've yet to do that with a game or console, but I'm thinking this one is worth it.

I'd say it depends on where you live, but as long as you're at the store before it opens, I doubt you'd have a problem getting it opening day. If you live in a big city or something, keep in mind that lines will be longer and it may be harder to get due to more people.

I always preorder anyways. Makes me feel safe, plus you can pay for the game in increments instead of $50 all at once.

I preordered it earlier this year and got same day shipping, ended up being $65, so it would arrive release date and I wouldn't have to leave my house to get it.

It will probably be sold out for a couple of days/weeks after the first couple of hours, but games are produced MUCH faster and more cheaply than consoles, so supply will increase very quickly.
