With Melee being a featured game, Do you think we'll get any anouncements?

As always, Namco is going to be there. And, Melee made real waves during the donation drive; that was all over the gaming news. I don't honestly think Nintendo would show up, but the hopeful part of me wants to say that Namco's influence will affect Nintendo and make them at least acknowledge EVO in some way.

A character announcement trailer being released EVO weekend, even if it's not at EVO physically, would be a great way to build rapport and good will with the communities. I think if Nintendo was going to have a physical presence there, we'd know about it already; they'd probably have a sponsor spot, some kind of PR presence, and Mr. Wizard would have announced it already, assuming Nintendo didn't force him to keep it under wraps (which would be stupid of them anyway).

I guess Nintendo answered our question. There's no way in hell that if they cared enough about EVO to announce something there / at the same time, that they would also send Mr. Wizard a cease-and-desist. I know they did a 180 and now the stream is back up, but... well, I guess now we know how they feel, in a corporate sense. Sakurai may be looking out for us, but Nintendo corporate still views us as antagonists until we spam their inboxes. -_-

The page not loading must mean that it's getting alot of internet traffic.
This scandal has attracted attention to the masses!
EVO awareness has never been higher!
I guess we really should thank Nintendo.
Maybe they had this publicity stunt planned all along.

http://www.joystiq.com/2013/07/09/super-smash-bros-melee-pulled-from-evo-2k13-streaming/ It's back as intended! :D It details Nintendo announced the correction, but when did they even promote EVO? Namco's presence might do something. But any amount of news at this pint will be something.
Yeah. The damage was done though. I can't even believe they tried to pull that. It is almost unfathomable. I mean I guess I could see it coming after the "lets play" fiasco.

Look at it this way.

They changed their mind in less than five hours. They listen to their fans more than the other developers.

Five hours was five hours too long. I do see what you are getting at though. I still don't know why they are running the company into the ground (my opinion of course).

Well they certainly know how to drive it out when they need to.

Regardless, I doubt we'll get anything special at EVO. Does Sakurai even care about EVO?

I don't really think Sakurai cares about Evo. I mean, he isn't really that into the competitive scene... as we know. So I really doubt we are going to be getting any special announcements. It is a good time for announcements though. I know NRS (Netherrealm Studios) will be making some Injustice announcements. So you never know. :awesome:

I highly doubt it, though I'm still happy that Melee has been allowed streaming again.
