Welp too bad I ****ed up and didn't bring the switch box we needed to use with my capture card. All of you scrubs that didn't come will never get to see the insane **** we just witnessed in Grand Finals.
A few takeaways:
-For those of you who were wondering... ATL > Athens > TN.
-Tournaments without good seeding suck. I tied for 7th but only lost to the 1st and 2nd place players. I never even got to play against most of the TN players because I was running around a cramped ass apartment full of annoying Wii U players trying to make sure the people in losers would quit standing around or disappearing and just play their ****ing matches. I've beaten schafer aka "Isai" before when I was just getting off of playing so I feel like I definitely could've knocked him out of winner's if I didn't have to play NTA 1st round, but he definitely looked like he leveled up his kirby so I guess we'll never know. And to be honest I suck at the kirby ditto so he and Rum probably could've eliminated me too for all I know. But I guess the point is: we need to get some ****ing console weeklies or at least monthlies going on ASAP, and more crossover between Athens and ATL.
-Don't taunt and cheese on people who are better than you. I used to over rely on trying to get in people's heads if they had an edge on me but now that I think about it the best way to get in somebody's head is probably just to take their ****ing stocks. I beat Cane's fox game 1 and he went pika on me. At one point I was down 2-3 on stocks and I got a free down air on a whiffed edge guard. I watched pikachu fly toward the bottom of the stage, grabbed the ledge, rolled up and taunted.... And then all the sudden pikachu Quick Attacked back up and landed right next to me. The easiest f smash in the world would've sealed the deal, but instead I looked like a dumbass, Cane turned it around on me and then I was down 1 to 3. Thank god I didn't ****ing pause.
-If you're sleep deprived as ****, haven't eaten enough food all day, overheated and tired from running around a cramped ass apartment trying to run a 64 bracket, you will make the dumbest counter pick decisions ever. Yoshi VS Kirby on peaches... good idea right? If you want to get 5 stocked and donate your 10 dollars to the guy you're playing against. Just stay on dream land, play your best character, and get good.
-And most importantly... DON'T DO THE ****ING "TAPE FIX" THE NIGHT BEFORE A TOURNAMENT. It will make your stick seem tight as **** like a brand new controller, and it might be fine for Mario Party or some ****, but you will suck **** at plat drops and DI and you will miss every dash you need to follow up on ****. But well at least I can say I took a game off NTA using an unplayable piece of ****.
EDIT: ****it one more:
-For those of you that think "Johns don't matter"... you're an idiot. Tournaments with real stakes make people train up, and play at their best. Laggy online doesn't cut it. 2 frame p2p still doesn't cut it. Playing on a laggy flatscreen in 16:9 with a POS controller doesn't cut it. I slept on NTA so hard because I beat his Jiggs and Samus and Yoshi on a laggy TV while he was playing with a controller he doesn't normally use and was out of practice. Then a few months later he shook off the dust, got a Hori and destroyed everybody. I just saw some **** that I'm still not even sure if it was real. If LD is Neo then NTA is Agent Smith because he definitely has control of the Matrix.
Cane's not bad either.
