First of all, I only play melee. This is just something i thought about after hearing people complain about there being few/bad stages in smash 4.

Stages have always been a problem in smash, but in smash 4 (and brawl also i guess) there is a stage builder. Wouldn't this make it so that the TO's can work together to create a perfect neutral stage list? This is something that would be a dream for melee players, fixing PS, YS, Fod and Dreamland. Why haven't you? Who actually have this option already done this?

This is already planned, but it would only logistically be possible once the sharing of stages over Miiverse is added in a future update (as is planned by Nintendo). Until then, trying to recreate stages by looking at images of the grid is too difficult for large scale.

You could save them on SD cards and share them on the internet (still a hassle)

Nice to hear that you spoiled brats are planning to use these amazing tools you are given though :p

That's only in Brawl. They disabled saving stages to the SD to prevent another SmashStack exploit or similar. Now all stages are saved to the hard drive, which is as of yet tightly encrypted. There are already a few really cool competitive stages made though. I believe there's a thread dedicated to interesting ones somewhere around here...

You can't save them to SD cards.

Nice to hear that you elitists don't take the time to research other games though :p

I can't believe Nintendo is actually a company in 2015...

So you go to a basketball game and ask why no one is kicking field goals over the basket?

I can see it now:

"HEY GUYS! LET'S USE THIS STAGE LIST FROM CUSTOM STAGES!!!"

"Na. The ones we have now are fine."

"BUT GUYS! I FOUND THEM ON THIS RANDOM POST AND PRACTICED ON THEM FOR 5 DAYS!"

"So? Our scene doesn't use them. We have no obligation to use them over the current stages."

"BUT THIS IS STANDARD!"

"Not for us. Not here."

The issue is lesser the ability to share stages and more getting everyone to use custom stages for practice/tournaments/w/e. It allows for more consistency to use the normals overall. The Small guys won't ever see the post. The big guys want the small guys to come to tournaments, so they use normals. The huge guys want the big and small guys to come, so they follow what the big guys used.

The stage builder was used to widely distribute Project M and other mods, and with very slight alterations, could be used to pirate software. It's understandable why they wouldn't want an exploitable system again until they've had a chance to thoroughly test it, which is why stage sharing is in the works, expected to come out with the Mewtwo patch

You also don't go on to Basketball forums and tell them they should be adding trampolines.

There are several discussions going on about custom stages being tourney legal so I'll be closing this.

That's not a good way to get people to listen to what you are saying; especially in the Smash 4 section. Just a heads up.
