Bowser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOEo0A7zVMU (Watch at 1:35)
Zelda: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2p-EyKKiAo (Beginning of the video)
In the first video, we see that Bowser can (apparently) cancel his dash by crouching, while Zelda cannot. This allows Bowser to almost immediately use his Dtilt, while Zelda's has a bit of delay to it. In the Zelda video, one person questioned "Why can Bowser do it?". This led me to speculate the possibilities of why Bowser could apparently cancel his dash using crouch, and why Zelda couldn't. And I came up with a theory as to why this is.
The difference between the two characters is that Bowser can crawl. Back when I played the Demo at Smash Fest, I tried canceling a dash by crouching when I was using Villager. And, to my disappointment, I couldn't. I have no footage of me doing this, so you just have to take my word for it. And Villager, like Zelda, doesn't have access to a crawl. Could this be the key as to why Bowser was supposedly able to cancel his dash to go straight into a Dtilt? If that is the case, we may see an advanced technique from Melee make a return in Smash 4...although, it would become character-specific in this game.
What are your thoughts on this? I am probably going to try to look for more footage of this on youtube, although this will probably be a difficult endeavor, as I doubt that most people would try to immediately use a Dtilt out of a dash. If anyone finds any information though, please post it. Because the more movement options that are in Smash 4, the better.
