Today's update was a Kid Icarus song, the Underworld Theme.
First time I listened, it seemed really weird. It just doesn't seem to fit into Skyworld, does it? One would expect some sweet, Fountain-of-Dream-esque music for that stage...
So my quick conclusion is that there will be an Underworld stage. I know that the title of the song doesn't say much about what it'll be used for ( see the "Menu" theme ) but the Underworld is just too memorable to pass up.
Now, I never played Kid Icarus, but I found a video of the first stage on Youtube.

Besides the music, you'll notice that the design of the stage is completely vertical as the task is to escape the Underworld. Makes sense.
So, maybe this will be yet another vertically scrolling stage! It would only make sense here, far more than it did for Rumble Falls.
Also, notice how in the game, Pit can cross the sides of the stage to pop out again on the other side... so apparently, the Underworld consists of towers, or maybe it's a strange dimension that simply is only that wide.
I wonder how this stage could work. Maybe it could be the first level to have a differently shaped 2-dimensional plane, in the shape of a ring. Or maybe you simply have the ability to walk out on one side and pop back in on the other. Maybe that's also possible for other walk-off stages to make them less throw-inviting, although that'd put vertical KOers at a great advantage. Or maybe it simply scrolls up.
What do you think? Good idea? Stupid idea? Ideas for how it could work?
Oh, also: If this is another scrolling stage, it could go either way for the Icies. But if there are two other vertically scrolling stages, I think it could strengthen the argument that they didn't just axe them and give the stage concept to a DK stage. With a few tweaks, it's a concept that can be used many times...
Not like Rumble Falls did anything to really hurt the Icies' chances, but still!
