i was browsing the boards and an idea struck me: Lets see who is the most popular regional USA board. As I though, the Pacific West had the most people. But another idea struck. Which is the least popular board.

The Southwest board.

Not in all of the states of Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, and Oklahoma are we anywhere as close as the other boards in topics. Do we not have enough to talk about or are we not competitive enough? Sure we gots Forward, and a couple other famous guys, but we need more input. Tell your friends to play smash. Tell them it's to prepare for brawl or somin. But as brothers of the desert (Cept Oklahoma, but they have Uber-dust devils so its cool), I say we converse with each other as men (and ladies), I say to you my Smash Brethren.

I feel as the less populated of the Smash Community, we should keep in contact with eachother. Therefore, I shall announce the Official Southwest IRC

Since the Atlantic South has a good instruction manual to get on IRC, I shall copy pasta their instructions.

For IRC/mIRC vets, I'll post the info up from here so you don't need the tutorial.

irc.rizon.net, port 6667, channel #swsmash.

For everyone else:

1.) Go to http://www.mirc.com and DL the program from any of the mirrors (it's a small file, short download), then install and run.

2.) A picture of some dude should come up, and you should click continue.

3.) The next screen should have boxes for putting you name, E-Mail address, and a slot for your Nickname and an alternate in case that nick is taken (it shouldn't be, but put something in this slot just in case). You can put false information in these slots if you feel like it, it doesn't really matter.

4.) Go to the 'Servers' option on the left hand of the window, and click 'Add.'

5.) Put the Description as 'Smash IRC', the IRC Server as irc.rageirc.com, and ports as 6667, and leave group and password blank. Click add.

6.) Double click the newly added server (should be at the top of the server list), and click 'Connect to Server.'

7.) When the 'mIRC favorites' window comes up, do not click on any of the listed channels, and instead type 'ssbm' into the window and click Join.

8.) Once you're in the channel, you can talk by typing in the blank bar at the bottom of the screen, and pressing Enter to send.

See you there!

For that reason. This "We dont play so what the point" additude is the reason why we never play each other. I feel we should be more active to eachother. Even if you are in Fort Worth.

You realize the geographical limitations of living in the southwest compared to places like the East Coast mean that our playing together will never change? I can drive for like 4 hours in any direction from my house and still be in Texas...and I live in "North" Texas.

Understood, but compare that to the Midwest forums. Montana to Ohio. That sir, is HUGE. That is around the same mileage if not more. Besides, unity never hurt anyone. Be a little optimistic.

Southwest forum?

They should rename it to: "Arizona and Texas, featuring those other states."

It's a pretty smash desolate part of the country. :( Trust me. I drive 4 hours to go to tournaments.

Because the Montana scene is so competitive that they're included in the Midwest circuits and everything.

Oh wait, they aren't. Midwest is primarily IL/IN/OH, with a little Michigan, Northern Kentucky, and Missouri. Those states are within relative proximity to each other and the top 3 could all probably fit within Oklahoma.
