The Smash Ballot ends soon: Who to vote for? [Discussion]

So the Smash Ballot is ending very soon and I've been putting off my right to vote, but now I can't escape letting my voice be heard. However, between you and me, I have no idea which character to vote for and I thought it'd be best to let the community help me (and help others who still need to and want to vote in the process too).

As I see it, these are roughly the categories in which one's underlying motivation to vote can fall:

1) Purely emotionally voting for one's favorite character, regardless of logic (Ex: What? I just REALLY like Goku!)

2) Voting for one's favorite character, but taking some important factors into consideration (Ex: I love Lloyd, but he's already a Mii thing so I decided to pick my runner up, Isaac, whom is also a gaming character and also appeared on a nintendo system and copyright probably isn't an issue that can't be solved here!)

3) Purely voting logically (Ex. I love Isaac, but I'm not voting for him because he's not in the top three picks of other people so I can better focus on actually making a difference by voting for Shantae, whom IS in the top three, though I don't like her as much as Isaac fyi!)

With that said, the answers I'd like to see answered by you guys are: Which character did you vote for and why? Which voting style (of the ones mentioned above or another) do you think I should use and why? Which character do you think I should vote for and why? And, is there an official tally on the Smash Ballot; what are the top five to ten picks at the moment?

Thanks guys, this whole thing is beyond me at this point.

I voted for Quote. (Cave Story.)
It's mostly the second reason - I voted because the series has no representation to begin with, and because of his source material a moveset shouldn't be too hard to come up with. The problem is that some people might see him as similar to Mega Man, (Both robots that use weapons) but I'd expect them to play much differently.

I voted for King K. Rool, although I'd rather not open the novel as to why, since I'd rather not turn your thread into a mass speculation excavation site.

Unless you don't want a character yourself, you should never pick option #3.
That said, there needs to be an option that is a mix of options 1 and 2. Because that's the line of thought I used to vote for Midna & Wolf Link a few months ago.

K. Rool need to be in the game just for this song to be put in...and the voice actor playing him.

From what I remember the votes are tied to an IP and only the most recent/last vote counts. Don't take this as 100% the truth because I still can be wrong.

since on the website it says "please limit your vote to one per person" I assumed I was allowed, but locked to an IP makes sense, oh well.

Honestly we have no idea how it works so I wouldn't worry.

On topic, I voted for K. Rool and Dixie for reasons 1&2. There's just no reason not to have at least one of them. And the popularity is absolutely there.

Voted for Ivysaur from home- Just because Ivy's my favorite. <3

Voted for Dixie from my phone- She's a likely one and I voted because I like her and I wanted to push her over the edge- specified not to be a clone though. If she makes it in but is a clone I would seriously slap Sakurai for not being creative. There's literally no reason for her to be a clone.

Well, I've voted for Lloyd from home (got a Mii Fighter costume, somewhat disappointing but still super hype since I didn't really expect even that much) and Tetra from my college's wireless.

Lloyd because I really like him as a character, and really like the game he's from, and really like his playstyle in said game, and because I wanted another Namco rep.

Tetra because Toon Link is in the game, so why not have a "Toon Zelda"? Plus, it seems she may have originally been planned for Brawl. And also because Tetra is another of my favourite characters ever. I like her design and her personality. Plus she kicks Ganondorf in the face.

It might be wishful thinking on my part, but with Samus, Fox, Link, and Captain Falcon costumes now being in the game, having a Mii Fighter costume of yourself might not be enough to count you out. Then again, I sorta suspect the Samus costume is in reaction to that Adam or whatever-his-name-is guy from Other M that people keep voting for, and that the Fox costume is a response to ballot votes for James McCloud.

I voted Medusa (it's probably obvious) for the second reason. It's mostly simply because I love her and want to see what things she can bring in Smash, but I also take on account her importance in the KI serie for example.

I voted Dixie Kong and I know a lot of people voted for King K. Rool.

If there's gonna be two reps from the same universe, Donkey Kong has to be the one.

Not too long ago, my answer was definitely Isaac.

I mean, he was the main character of my favorite RPG of all time.

But suddenly I realized....

Is that still the case? Didn't I enjoy Xenoblade a heck of a lot more than Golden Sun?

Welp, yes, I did. And Shulk is now in Smash and that's ****ing awesome.

So since I already got my JRPG fix in Smash... Should I really be voting for Isaac?

Not really. I mean, if he gets in, I'll still be excited as ****. But I just don't need him to get in anymore.

So **** it. My vote goes to Banjo-Kazooie. Best 3D platformer ever if you ask me, and both Banjo and Kazooie are stupidly likeable as characters. Still have a huge soft spot for Isaac, and I'm sure they could come up with some freaking insane moveset by playing around with the Djinn>Summon>Wait for recovery idea. But damn it, I feel like the bear and the bird just deserve the spot much more at this point.

Either way, I'd be stupidly happy if either of them actually gets in. Like holy **** that'd be insane.

I also almost voted Klonoa simply for the fact that we might at least get a Mii Fighter costume out of it, since Namco loves (or at least used to love) including Klonoa cameos in all their stuff.

The last person I voted for was Jade, (Beyond Good and Evil, GC)
Its unrealistic, But I really love this character and since Ubisoft is abandoning her franchise maybe she could find a home in Smash

Banjo and Kazooe. Based on my empirical knowledge, everyone used to reminisce about how Banjo should have been chosen for Melee or that they wished it would happen. However, once we finally got the power to make our voices heard, people decided to vote for their personal favorites (which is fine). Banjo is not one of my favorite characters at all, but he belongs in Smash, he is a huge part of Nintendo's history. That is why I voted for him. Purely emotional, I suppose.

I've mostly voted for King K. Rool and Bandana Dee, although I've also submitted a few votes to Wolf and Captain Toad and one vote to Gengar as well.

I voted for many characters, but the one i'm pulling for the most is Snake.

Big part of Smash history by basically opening the gates for 3rd party character to come and join the fray and it would be a good send off for the Metal Gear Solid series.

Runner up would be Wolf.
