Aaaaaaaand let's move on to a new topic.

Should Daisy have any form of projectile, traps, or both in her moveset?

It can be anything, like balls (Super or sports ones) or Mario Party stuff.
I think Daisy needs a projectile in her moveset simply because most Mario Sports involve a ball AND the only Super Mario Land power-up is one, so I believe her Neutral B should be a Superball, which she can then smash forwards with sports props.

Traps I'm less sure about.
Setting walls could have great cohesion with the Superball's possible bouncing mechanic and it's easy to think of a move for it (I personally like a slower moving, no charge Easter Statue Phantom Armor)

Stationary or moving Bombshell Koopas could also work with the ball-mechanic by bouncing them off the shells, letting the balls trigger the bomb or simply sending the balls flying with the opponent for a double whammy.

And then of course there are the flower-related traps, like pollen-filled mini-gardens ofa flower bud that snaps open if touched.
But, seeing how DeDeDe or Bowser Jr are already seen as "trap characters" even though they have only one trap move makes me cautious of making Daisy a Pac-Man-level trapper.

But projectile is a must, traps I'm not sure about despite the potential

EDIT: Trappish Superball is the way to go, go for mobility for the rest of the specials

One question, has anyone about the level of button mashing ever used Toad in any of the three Smashes with Peach? I've never seen it in any tournament footage I've ever seen.

I'm going somewhere with this but I need to confirm I'm not talking nonsense first.

I think it was a decent recovery move since it halted momentum a bit but I think none of its uses has anything to do with its intended purpose

I'm curious about where you're going with this

So Peach has a guard but they're useless for defending her. How appropriate.

Anyway, what I'm getting at is that if Daisy goes the clone route then there's no reason for her to not go the full Luigi. Mario has a reflector/flipper, Luigi has an approach/recovery so instead of a (very odd) counter then Daisy could have any number of moves instead of the canon iffy Toad. A non-item projectile, Planting a seed that turns into a platform, Mario Party 3's Falcon Punch... Point is, if Daisy had a decent Neutral Special in exchange for say, Peach's floating it could make her a vastly different character without having to do a lot of work.

And maybe give Kirby an advantage in match-ups but Kirby only ever eats Shulk on levels above friends on couch.

Support. Will post moveset idea later, if that's still allowed.
There's nothing wrong with sharing movesets here. If you want to make a good Daisy moveset, then go right ahead. That means more content for the second part of this large OP.

Added.

Mods are asleep, time to post about banned users.

Are there any other ideas for down specials? I know I had the flower mine idea and a few people had the crystal smash idea but are there any more?

If only transformations weren't removed, she can change outfits to affect her moveset by magically swapping them like she did Mario Golf World Tour.

Another idea would be shooting a Bombshell Koopa. But that would be too similar to Bowser Junior's Mechakoopas.

Well transformations were only removed due to technical limitations so smash switch might be able to put them back in. I hope they keep the other transforming characters separated though. I'm liking the idea of outfit switching to bring back the Zelda/Sheik mechanic without putting Zelda and Sheik back together.

I would have little issue with this.

Both costumes are just as beloved, so why not use that as Daisy's big gimmick? Even though it would use a lot of development time and work.

There are attacks that are too similar with a handful of characters anyway, so what's one more gonna hurt? Especially since I like this idea.

You may be right. Plenty of moves are similar to one another, even the now dead tether recoveries.

Besides, the Bombshell Koopa would only explode when they get stomped on. Which would probably translate to getting hurt by normal means in Smash too.

I've got to agree with Ark, here. There's nothing wrong with a shared or similarly-functioning attack, as long as it fits.

For those expecting any Amoibo compatibility with Daisy in MK8D, there is none. Also not for Waluigi or Boo either.

https://mynintendonews.com/2017/03/24/heres-which-amiibo-are-compatible-with-mario-kart-8-deluxe/

I knew about this in the morning, so I figured now was the time to say this mates. Not that it should really affect her as a character. At least we can still tear the tracks on the Switch next month with her.
It's exactly the same list as in the original version of Mario Kart 8, for what it's worth, so I guess it's not too surprising.

Due to how Amiibo identify, it doesn't matter that some variants didn't exist at the time of Mario Kart 8's release - any Amiibo of a character (or, in the Animal Crossing case, any figures or cards which carry a particular series identifier) is supported by any game that supports that character, regardless of which version or variant it is.

Pretty much. It's not like we can really expect too much from what is essentially the updated port of a Wii U game.

At least here's hope for Mario Kart 9, if that will ever happen.

Remember there's still a chance of DLC in MK8D and if that's the case Nintendo may expand the amiibo costume list. The more games compatible, the more value for money they are.

That's exactly what they did with the original version of Mario Kart 8, too, funnily enough. It wouldn't surprise me if it did happen again.

You may be on to something. They would have to capitalize on those future Amiibo sales somehow. More DLC content in the port would be great.

Even though it means more pissed off Wii U owners.

I think these people seriously forget that this port exists for casuals and those that never cared for the Wi U to begin with. Instead of feeling so entitled, they should just keep their Wii U copies and never buy a Switch juts for that port. What's the matter with keeping both platforms anyway?

And I agree with Guybrush20X6 Guybrush20X6 , something tells me we might get more content in the future and Amiibo updates through a patch like the vanilla Mario Kart 8 did. It would definitely push more sales for the old customers and casuals. I actually would be interested in driving around in a Daisy outfit for my Mii racer.

As a Wii U owner who would have preferred to have seen boo, battle mode, and whatever other additions as another nice 20 dollar dlc, this port is a bit annoying.

But as someone who just doesn't care, I think I'm just going to not get it until such a time where it seems likely I'm going to get into four player battle mode... and since I don't have the controllers for that, I got time. Maybe even when this gets players choice'd. Or is on some sale.

Frankly, between Zelda, shovel knight, Bomberman, splatoon testfires and that inevitable full game, and king of fighters '98 (It's my first king of fighters really. Way too many characters to learn) my switch isn't starved for attention.

Yeah, somewhat of a story, but whatever. As you can see more fighters have been added. I'm trying to pull from as many Disney franchises as possible. Arenas are being decided on along with items.

Also, due to the fact that Tarzan has been officially confirmed to be the younger brother of Elsa and Anna from Frozen, there will be something in the game's story mode to expand on this.

More franchises are still to be added, let me know if you have any ideas for the roster. - Afro

Just as a little problem with this. It's kind of off topic and this isn't a social.

Not to sound rude or anything, you would have to take this sort of discussion to the group instead.

Just because your roster has Daisy Duck in it doesn't mean it's relevant to Daisy or this thread.

You can post that stuff in the group version of the daisy thread but not here

Hoping that's the case as well, more characters means more variety, although for me, the characters that I use(Daisy,Luigi, Baby Luigi, Baby Daisy and Dry Bones) are already there.

Inb4 we get Green Bronze Luigi.

Second though, hell no. We don't more of that in Mario Kart....

For the love of Tatanga, please don't joke like that. Just give characters like Diddy and Bordo a chance since they are important popular Mario characters that are missing from the line up. Even I don't want them to make an Orange Amber Daisy when Baby Daisy was already pushing it since Mario Kart Wii.

We can hope that some good DLC come out of this. Even I wouldn't mind the likes of Captain Falcon showing up to throw the F-Zero fans a bone. Or even Kirby after Sakurai cruelly teased us with that Rosalina reveal (You know what I'm talking about).

Wouldn't we get Silver Luigi to match the addition of Gold Mario?
Gold Mario is an alt to Metal Mario and not really taking a roster slot (at least according to some people). Therefore making Silver Luigi as his own separate character would be weird. But this is Mario Kart, anything is possible.

Would have to agree with you fully. Diddy and Birdo's omissions are like massive stains to the Mario Kart roster so far, especially given their popularity and usual roles in other spinoff games. I would argue characters like E. Gadd and Luma deserves it too, but they are low profile characters in comparison to those too.

Falcon and Kirby would be bad guest additions at all. At least they would be just as exciting as Villager, Isabelle, and Link from Mario Kart 8. And now we got the Inklings in the upcoming Switch port as exciting new characters. Still wish the pink puff has some playable appearance in Mario Kart (Damn it Sakurai).

The more we talk about Metal clones, the more that will convince Nintendo to make more. Let's not give them any ideas at all.

The MK devs need an intervention. One that gets them to stop making Baby and Metal characters.
This.

Even I would be insane enough to say that I'd take Honey Queen or Wiggler over another baby or metal clone any day.

Couldn't agree more. Just so long as we get actual new characters. And to add to it since it slipped my mind earlier, add costumes to that intervention. If they want to put in Cat Peach, go right ahead, but why does it have to be a separate character?
