Didn't Sakurai announce he wanted more villains or not. I dont know.
Anyway I prepared this thread thats for discussing Shadow for brawl in general.

Shadow the Hegehog is a character from the Sonic the Hedgehog series, created by Sonic Team, designed by Yuji Uekawa and owned by Sega.
Shadow is a black, male, anthropomorphic hedgehog. He is one of Sonic's rivals and is considered to be an anti-hero. Created as the ultimate life form over 50 years ago by Gerald Robotnik, Shadow is ageless and immortal.

Since his debut, Shadow has appeared in a multitude of games, television shows, and comic books. His past is almost a complete mystery until the game Shadow the Hedgehog reveals the events surrounding his creation and his being captured by the government. In contrast to Sonic, Shadow is typically portrayed as a tortured anti-hero, or a renegade who can just as easily serve the forces of evil as those of good. According to an official poll, he is the second most popular character in the series, second only to Sonic himself.

Now lets talk about his personality:
Shadow is a "lone wolf" who distances himself from Sonic and his friends. He is overall the exact opposite of Sonic. Whereas Sonic is witty and fun-loving, and a slight bit cocky, Shadow always remains serious and no-nonsense, and rarely speaks to people in a friendly way.
Shadow is arguably one of the most developed characters in the series, willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants or achieve what he believes is right. He will destroy anyone (ranging Sonic to Eggman) or anything that gets in his way--even if this involves the destruction of an entire planet or himself. This nature seems to cause him to treat enemies more like obstacles to be swept aside than any actual foe.
Despite his violent tendencies, Shadow has shown that he is capable of compassion such as when he stepped in between Sonic and Silver and when he saved Rouge in the 2006 Sonic the Hedgehog game, also in Sonic Battle, when he insists that he must be destroyed if the world wants peace. He has also been shown to be extremely loyal to his creator and Maria, following their instructions without questioning morals.

Now about Shadows abilities.
Basic traits between Shadow and Sonic are virtually identical. Like Sonic, Shadow is highly acrobatic, capable of gracefully leaping over many obstacles in his way, and can also perform Sonic's trademark 'Spin Attack'. Also, due to his Air Shoes, he can "skate" at speeds high enough to rival or equal Sonic's. However, there are some differences between these two hedgehogs. First of all, Shadow is ageless and cannot be killed.[5]. Also, Shadow is strong enough to put forth the effort needed to flip over some objects too large to be picked up, such as peeled away asphalt and trucks[6], with one hand.
He can also use different "Chaos powers," that have varying effects and names. Shadow's trademark move is Chaos Control, which allows him to warp time and space. Shadow uses it mainly to transport matter and/or to slow or stop time. The move actually allows the user to manipulate time and space to warp across "space" or move through or across "time". Sonic, Black Doom, Metal Sonic (as seen in Metal Madness during Sonic Heroes) and Silver can also use Chaos Control, though the move originally appeared with Shadow and he makes the most extensive use of it. Although cutscenes[7] and bios in manuals and websites[8] often claim Shadow needs a Chaos Emerald to perform the technique, he has used it several times during gameplay as well as some cutscenes without a visible Emerald such as in Sonic Rivals, Sonic Battle and Sonic the Hedgehog. Shadow is also able to shape Chaos Control into a variety of offensive and defensive attacks, such as "Chaos Spear". As described in Shadow's game, all of his Chaos powers increase in correlation to the addition of a greater number of Chaos Emeralds, until reaching full power with all 7 Emeralds.
Another form of attack that first appeared in the Shadow the Hedgehog game is an attack called "Chaos Blast" that is induced when Shadow commits acts of evil, filling his red gauge. While the Chaos Spear can attack single or multiple targets, the Chaos Blast is virtually a shockwave of energy that eliminates anything and everything in a circular radius range. When this attack can be formed, his eyes and the streaks on his body begin to glow red.
As shown in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), and Sonic X, Shadow is able to unleash more of his power if he takes off the rings on his wrists. Sonic X was the first to present this idea, which at first made it seem to be exclusive to the anime, as during the Sonic Adventure 2 adaption, Shadow loses his rings when trying to stop the ARK from crashing to earth. In the game, Sonic enters the ARK with one of Shadow's rings. In the anime, this increase in power comes at the expense of reducing his stamina, causing Shadow to become exhausted after a relatively short time ########## combat as seen in episodes 60, 61, and 63 of the series. However in the video game series, he shows no sign of fatigue. The increase in his power from taking off his rings shows a drastic change in the final cutscene of his story in Sonic the Hedgehog 2006, after he plows through many clones of Mephiles.
In Shadow the Hedgehog, Shadow has shown that he can also use a wide range of firearms, semi-automatics, heavy assault, and close-combat weapons. He can also improvise with debris, and drive a wide range of vehicles, as shown in Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic Riders, and Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). This proves a great distinction between him and Sonic because, in the same game, Sonic says he'd never get caught using a gun.
By harnessing the power of the seven Chaos Emeralds, Shadow is able to use super transformation to transform into Super Shadow. He is bestowed with the new abilities of flight and near invulnerability, like Super Sonic, and his normal abilities of speed and power are greatly enhanced.

Because of his popularity ,personality, strength, and unique attacks, Shadow's inclusion in SSBB is almost certain. But on the other hand, since he's a character of a third party series, his chances have been lowered alot. He will never ever EVER be a Sonic clone in the game. That won't happen.

I prepared a moveset for him. The stars after a move indicate its strength from 1 to 5 with some exceptions.

INFO

Speed-****-He has the Air shoes people!
Weight-**-He's pretty light since he can do all those high jumps, acrobatics
Power-*****-He's incredibly strong. He better not be immortal in SSBB!!!
Jump-****-He's great at jumping too. The Air shoes help him.
Attacking Speed-***-Lets not make him too good. Something has to be low.

MOVESET

B-Gun shot-**-Weak but really fast and usable continously and can change direction with the controls:sniper:
B>-Spin Attack-**-The same one Sonic has
B^-Rifle-**-Weak but he shoots spinning hitting almost everyone.:uzi:
Bv-Lazer sword-****-Swings his sword.

A-Punch-*
AA-Punch-*
AAA-Kick-**
A>-Spin kick-***-Spins and kicks foe
A^-Backflip kick-**-Sends enemy high
Av-Trip-*-Very weak but trips the enemy making him easy to hit after

Aerial-Spin kick
Aerial>-Homing attack-***-Turns into a ball in the air and falls in on the nearest target
Aerial^-Rifle spin-Stops in mid-air and uses his Rifle move spinning.
Aerialv-Feet shake-***-Shakes his feet very quickly and kicks anyone near enough

Smash-Bazooka-*****-Shoots with his powerful bazooka:bigrocket
Smash >-Spin Dash-****-Same Sonic has but black
Smash ^-Shadow chopper-****-Just like the Wario chopper
Smash v-Gun machine-****-Hops into a small dome that shoots and can turn with the directional stick. Get out by jumping

Final Smash-Chaos-
Shadow becomes either blue or red. Blue is good and red is evil. Theres a 50/50 chance.
If he becomes blue then he will use Chaos Control. In this, all the characters freeze for some time and Shadow can hurt them all he wants. His moves go up 3 stars during this.
If he becomes red he will use Chaos Blast that unleashes an explosion on the entire stage. All characters except Shadow will get 400% damage!

MISCELLANEOUS

Taunt-Juggles the Chaos Emeralds
Intro-Drives there with his chopper.
Winning dance 1-The Chaos Emeralds are floating around him and he says "The power of Chaos is within me"
Winning dance 2-Pulls out his rifle and shoots at the ground continously making him rise high in the air.
Winning dance 3-Jumps in his Gun machine and spins around crazily.
Kirby hat-Like Sonics but black

Here are some wallpapers of Shadow:

Now. What do you think? Should he be in or not? Hows my moveset? Whats yours?
Discuss it all here.:)

his moveset definetly needs less guns, plus he will probably end up as Sonic's alternate costume, if not an AT

IIRC, Sakurai said that we would be getting three third-party characters. Only three. I don't think he'll have two of those three slots occupied by two characters from the same series (and the same species).

Also, Shadow is NOT a villain. He's an antihero.

With your girlfriend.
Sonic doesn't deserve another representative. They threw enough money at Sakurai to get Sonic in already. I hate Sonic, the series, and the games. They're highly overrated, and their fanbase is full of corrupt rock kids that think he's the ''In" thing.

shadow was one of the reasons i stopped buying all the sonic games. he ruined sonic with the guns and the crappy story line. sure good for sonic AD 2 but not for smash. if there will be another 3rd party character i'm pretty sure it will be megaman classic or bman. the sonic series does in no way deserve a 2nd rep
