The Official Classic Mode Discussion Thread

Classic mode is back!

According to the update, just like the original Super Smash Bros., each stage is based on a certain series, like Stage 1 is The Legend Of Zelda, while Stage 3 is based on Pokemon.

Several matches will be contained with Team, metal, and other special battles.

What's this?! Apparently you collect coins again...but you don't use them to shop...​

So, discuss this mode here. What new effects/bosses await us? Is "Boards The Platforms" returning? What about the Master Hand?​

I can't edit right now, but I will.

I know we already have a thread, but this thread is different. The other threads just say it's back, while this thread discusses the possiblilties of what could occur in the mode. The other threads just say things like "Glad it's back." or something of that nature.

And here's something I noticed:

For stock matches, we don't get little head icons -- we get little circles. It

Don't spam this topic.

I'm glad that the stages also correspond with the characters, such as Zelda with Eldin Bridge. I don't like fighting a Mario character in a DK universe, or something like that.

ALSO TO NOTE: I plan on updating this thread when something about Classic mode is revealed again, such as a boss.

I've heard theories that you will either unlock characters or unlock stuff with it.

Coins will be for continues, trophies, stickers, music, stage editing items like platforms, sounds and other stuff like that.

I'm guessing the coins could be used to *unlock*, not buy, new characters, trophies, stage builder items, etc. Or maybe, like in melee, if you need to continue becaused you died.

Maybe there are certain parts to where you have to "pay" to get to the next level??

coins should be used with the stage creator to buy parts, backgrounds, character sets, and traps IMO
