The Obstacle that IS long range

I've seen a lot of match ups that pit Marth against characters such as Link, Snake, Samus, and other characters with a big amount of long range attacks in their arsenals. The match ups do deal with them, but there are certain instances where long ranges attacks can become extremely annoying when handled in heavy doses.

Link, for example can start off with a boomerang, then arrow or bomb, to give you quite a few obstacles to get through to reach him, leaving you pretty open. While you can catch bombs and counter or dodge the other two, it just feels like there has to be a better way than jumping around and trying to avoid all three. It normally leaves me open for at least an arrow, or for link to advance on me and get some damage in.

While I havent played any samus's that arnet computers, I imagine it's sort of the same deal, especially with the common "charging up B, using the missle, then immediatley firing B" thing.

Snake could also apply to this. grenades and missles could pretty much be a lot of potential danger, but then again, seeing the overall advantages he has makes him hard anyways.

But my point is, do any of you have any tips or advice to overcoming many long range techniques gracefully and easily? I know Link especially gives me trouble because the ones I fight normally spam all of the long range attacks they have, and it's just so hard to come in close and get a hit.

Vs Samus you can just swat all the bombs she throws at you, the zair is a different story however if they decide to camp with that (which they should).

Invest time in learning to perfect shield. My brother mains Pit, KING of projectile spam. That being said, I quickly learned how walking and perfect shielding ELIMINATES Marth's weakness against projectiles (furthermore, I can slice most non-laser projectiles with a Fair, fairly accurately, but I only do this for style points. It looks pro, but it's not advisable).

I can't tell you how amazed and dumbfounded Pits, and Wolfs, and Samus, and Pikachus, and Links, and Toon Links are when I walk (NOTE: WALK, NOT DASH) up to them, simply perfect shielding every obstacle in my path, like I'm the Juggernaut or something. It feels really good, is really safe, and throws off opponents who were definitely expecting you to jump. It takes practice, but isn't really hard at all.

The only person who still gives me trouble with projectiles are Olimar (non-shieldable), and Falco (******** rate of fire). However, pro Falco's like to double lazer, so I can perfect shield the ones that hit a grounded opponent, and just not jump as much. This closes the distance fine. If they start spaming ground lazers, then I can jump, and Falco has enough lag time from grounded lazers to punish.

As for Olimar, if he's projectile spamming just rush him, lol. Watch out for purples.

Good luck!

Oh man, I can picture a Marth just walking up to a Link, shielding everything like it's no big deal. That's what I hope to achieve soon. Good point though, Olimar serves as a problem because pikmin do constant damage, and it's heavy if there are 3 or 4 on you. Thank goodness you can shake them off. Thanks for the good advice!

I spotdodge, not shield.
I think it looks cool.
Especially against Pit's arrows and Ike fsmash.
It's just funny watching people spam and spam, only to be smashed to their death.
